Days gone by...

Found some days gone by photos (photo of a photo tends to be a tad fuzzy) while looking for another photo... First photo is of my baby brother and I. We are 14 months apart. I think we were about 1 and 2 there, so that would put us in 1962, sitting in front of my parents living-room curtains, on top of the coffee table I know we were not allowed to climb on too yet! I loved those curtains... The had an oriental style to them...

Next is my Grade 1 photo, 1966. (now my profile photo) My mother had me in ringlets from the day my hair was long enough to hold a sponge roller over night, till the day after I did my first communion in grade 3. For months I had begged for a "Pixie Cut" and was told "after your first communion". There was no waiting for it after that! My "past the waist long hair" was put into 2 braids, chopped off by Mommy-dearest, and away we went with my cockeyed head of hair walking to the hairdresser's down the street for my pixie cut! I still have those braids (in photo - taken today)...
How many of you had ringlets as a child?

Many of you have asked about my injured thumb in emails, and since you know that I am not good with emailing (overwhelmed), I'll just let you all know that the wound is well healed shut, and just a tad red around it... 8-)

for your encouraging comments for my lost mojo. I think if I limit the computer use and the TV for a few days, and push myself into "doing", like cleaning up my sewing room, I may find some of my mojo to kick-start me in the right direction... Hopefully... That indeed would/will be a hard feat for me... Tis a mental health battle I've struggled with the last 5 years... There! I've said it! ... It is what it is... We shall see how I do... 8-)
Meanwhile, I will enjoy all the great projects and BOMs that you, my wonderful fellow blogging quilters, are doing at the moment... 8-)

I would still like to know how many of you had ringlets in your past...

I had no ringlets :) But I have braids like you do! Mental health is very difficult to deal with, I should know.

Hey Kiddo! Love the pics of you and your bro. My hair is naturally curly and if you straightened out a curl and then let go it would bounce back like a spring. I remember getting a haircut at age 7 and the curls were never the same and now my hair has a mind of it's own anyway LOL

It's hard in January with the crappy cold weather and winter isn't even half over yet and all you want to do is hibernate. Maybe you should pick out a small project to work on or some knitting and see how that goes. I know sometimes I have to force myself off the chair in front of the computer and go downstairs to the sewing area. Once I get busy I'm fine.

Hugs to you kiddo, K

Myra I so appreciate that you blog so frequently - even when you're not feeling 100% - recognizing the problem and giving ourselves permission to just 'be" speaks of a healthy attitude - hope you are feeling better soon :)

Oh, Myra, did I have ringlets!! You bet!! My mother did my sister and me up quite fine when we were little girls. I will have to go and find some photos to post of the two of us. Thanks for signing up for my BOM. Decided I should come over and check out your blog. :-) I know what it is to lose your "mojo". Take care of YOU!!

Those pics are so cute. I'm another one with naturally curly hair, spent my school days trying to make it straight. Isn't funny how we want what we don't have.
Have you thought of having a "blog holiday" ie tell everyone you are off the air for a week or so. I took a break from blogging before Christmas it cleared my head. We will all be here when you get back. Nothing like a good clean up to restore "mojo". Its going to be over 40 degrees here for the next two days, I am planning of going through all my clothes in the wardrobe. Time for a cleanout there.

All those beautiful curls cut off - how sad! Lucky you weren't my little girl - you wouldn't have had your pixie cut! I had curls, too and Mum used to comb them into propsticks i.e. curl then around a comb - there's some more Aussie slang for you!

I sure did have ringlets! Every Saturday evening my mom used to put pink rubber curlers in my hair so I would have ringlets for church the next morning. When I stayed at my friend's house, her mom would do my hair up in rags. My hair is poker straight now although I was born with a bit of curl (this was cut off with the first haircut and never returned!).

I had ringlets done with rags in my hair.... not all the time, but enough times that yes, I had them. And my mom grew my hair to till I could sit on it - and did it tangle!!! So, she finally let me cut it off!!! And now, I love my hair short, have worn it short for forever!!! And my girls, they get to have their hair any way they want. I have never told them no to a hair cut - and they have not had ringlets, simply because I have no idea how my mom did them!!!

I hate loosing my zest for getting up and doing things, but it happens. And yes, it could be the weather. I know for me, if I don't have to leave the house, I can stay home for weeks... and that is not a good thing either!!! So, I have decided that I have to do something new at least once a month - or if not new, something fun that I like. Like just a moment ago, my DD told me that a movie she wants to see had a commercial on. Now we have made plans to go see it when it's out (Inkheart - out on the 23rd) She's read the book(s) and now wants to see the movie.

So Myra, Happy Stiching to you too!!! Have a great week!

I like your little girl picture. I did not have curly hair or ringlets. Just the home perms. I still roll my hair with the plastic foam rollers instead of the curling irons. Lots of us have no mojo this time of year. I think it has something to do with no sunshine or low sunshine and lack of vitamins that give the "feel goods". Pictures of flowers and warm sunshine might be in order for a cure. Appliqued on a quilt!

My hair wouldn't curl, I hated rollers in my hair so my Mom's thing was "rags" for me. So basically they wouldn't last very long either. THEN came the "TONI". Remember those? Well apparently those didn't even work for my hair. So thus I remain, the ugly duckling! HAHAHA!
Man you look like DD2 in your BB picture. Your brother looks so much like DS did! Amazing likeness!

Nice braids - good for you for finding and posting them! Such healthy hair! Now how about teeth...got any of those anywhere? LOL!

Don't fight the lack of Mojo, just flow with it and try not to beat yourself up. Little goals and day by day. You will pull through just like the rest of us who struggle too!

Love ya! WK
