Quilt Galery Weekly Contest...

A scheduled post - As you read this, I am away for a "Mom's" 6-day getaway with a friend... Yippee!!!

First let me say "Thank-you!" to all that took the time to vote for my "Grandpa's Hollyhocks" last week!! Very much appreciated! It came in forth... 8-)

****************************************

I've decided to enter another one of my quilts!

This is the quilt I made for my brother and S-I-L for their 25th wedding anniversary in 2008... They are avid campers, fishers, hunters, and always exploring new lakes and surrounding areas.
I truly enjoyed making this quilt for them, and was pleased to hear they hung it up in their living-room, right that week I gave it to them... It is nice when someone appreciates your time and efforts in this way... 8-)

Entry photos for Contest "Wildlife" will pop up on Friday, and voting runs from Friday to Sunday midnight. There is only one vote per IP address.

Would love for you to go there and vote for mine, "Gone Camping"! 8-)

Thanks!

Bloggers' Quilt Festival!

Hi there! I'm another late comer to the festival! What a great idea for showcasing all our wonderful creations!!
Here, I am sharing the queen size quilt that I made last year, for my DD2 and her Mr.Rose, for their wedding gift. They wanted a wilderness themed quilt, since they are big into fishing and camping.

I didn't know where to begin, but for buying the appropriate fabrics for such a quilt. How to use them was another question.

Looking through my patterns/books nothing jumped out at me as "Yes! That is the one!" Then I then came upon something in my blog hopping visits, that I thought "something like that would be good", thus I designed this quilt to help showcase the fabrics...
I really enjoyed creating this quilt of love for my darlings, and they absolutely love it!! 8-)

Here are the pillow cases I included in the quilt gift... Tis a joy to see the quilt set on their bed...
With this project, I learned that I do produce well under pressure, and that I enjoyed creating the pattern for it. Now I am creating a "mystery quilt" for my quilt group, and I bought EQ-7 to play with... Fun stuff!

Thank you Amy for leading this Bloggers' Quilt Festival! Pop on over to check out all the lovely creations that were linked in for your viewing pleasure...

Enjoy!

Homemade Laundry Detergent

I made some homemade
laundry detergent this week!

I ended up with just about 3 full jugs...
There are so many recipes out there for Homemade Laundry Detergent...
Cause I can't find the one I used again...

Pennies per wash compared to store bought...

We'll see how it performs!?!
Back to my laundry... 8-)

Happy washing! 8-)

A Quilt-Along

Check out

A very kewl block with some great layouts, and Becky made 3 wonderful video tutorials to guide you along if you are inexperienced with paper-piecing...
Becky has most of her quilt top together now...

I printed out my paper-pieced pattern for it, for future use... I still have those darn PhDs standing in my way of starting anything new, plus I have to make grand-baby things too yet!!!
It just never ends!!! ;-)

Happy stitchings!

Mini Quilts Choice Auction at Quilt Show

Incredible! I was in awe of the workmanship
of these little beauties...

Apparently the minis have to be no bigger than
12" square, or smaller to qualified.
A few of them were too big,
but displayed for interest anyway...

These are incredible! All minis here!!
Click on photos for a closer look...

I hope all you mothers out there had a
wonderful day with your families!!!

Morden Quilt Show & my splurge!

Oh boy did I splurge at the quilt show yesterday!!!
This is what I splurged on!!!
I gave it about a 10-minute consideration, and then went for it... I had wanted such a program for the last 2-3 years now... Can't wait to give it a go!! 8-)

Since I did my "splurge", I had more control of myself with regards to fabrics... I got the 2 greens for 50% and 40% off...
The fat quarter is for making, what else, Zebras...

Patterns bought...
I could not pass up the Giraffe Growth Chart, as they had a sample of it hanging there
that was just too cute!!

Little wall-quilt hangers & ergonomic ripper..
Lil' Twister tool that I've been seeking off and on...

Still looking for an Apple Core tool though...
Want a strong one I can rotary cut around...

The rest of my goodies here I bought at a "Second Time Around" vendor table. I think I came home with some good savings... Attached to each, you can see what I payed...

I will post some photos of the quilts that were at this quilt show sometime this week...

Hope you are all having a great weekend! 8-)
