Sunday Sampler @ Six - Block 7

Corner Triangles- Triangle Tricks
You can find the story behind this BOM, and the first 6 blocks here...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi all!
Been laying low in my corner of the world here... Overwhelmed with the realities of what life has brought us for 2010... Closed my Facebook account, not keeping up with my email, blog visiting, blog postings, sewing, and much more... Just taking 1 day at a time right now. I am hoping our getaway to Vegas will be good for me, to recharge me somehow... 8-)
Hope all is well with you and yours!
May your stitches be true and thoughtful.
May your PhD, UFO, and WIP piles/lists grow smaller.
May you find happiness in the little things in life...
To those involved, keep up with the PhD Challenge, and I'll be in touch sometime soon...
Happy stitchings! 8-)
Sunday Sampler @ Six - Block 6 & PhD Update
Corner Rose - Paper PiecingMore on this sampler here...
I seem to have forgotten I had this "scheduled" post ready for tonight from a month ago!!! LOL!
More added...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This week I've been overwhelmed by the reality that both my daughters are getting married very soon... I mentioned in the last post DD2's wedding is in September, and now we've learned that DD1's wedding is booked for August.... No rest for the wicked!!! 8-/

I have also been struggling with...
"
do I carry on with my PhD Challenge, that I initiated"?
or
"
dedicate my time and energies to making 2 queen sized wedding quilts"?
Hands down the wedding quilts take priority right now... I guess this is all part of our creative craft, to change directions when we need to...
So, those that have joined in on my PhD Challenge, do carry on cause you are doing great! I shall keep track still, but sadly, I do feel I have to bow out of my Challenge... Too bad cause I was all gung-ho to "get'er done!" too... At least I have 1 big one done!!! 8-)
Perhaps I can look forward to tackling them again in October...

I also have to get a move on my Row Robin piece...
When it rains, it pours... 8-(
Happy stitchings ladies!
Myra
PS: No Sew & Tell photos from this past week as I didn't make it to my quilt night...

Quilt Addict.

Hi! My name is Myra and I'm a quilt addict!

Addicted to Quilting

She Learned to Quilt on MONDAY.
Her stitches all were fine
She forgot to make us dinner
So we all went out to dine...

She quilted miniatures on TUESDAY
she says they are a must
They really were quite lovely
But She forgot to dust...

On WEDNESDAY it was a sampler.
She says stippling's fun
What Highlights! What Shadows!
But The LAUNDRY was'nt done...

Nine Patches were on THURSDAY
Green, Yellow, Blue and Red.
I guess she really was engrossed
She never made the Bed!

It was wall hangings on FRIDAY.
In colors she adores
It never bothered her at all
That crumbs were on the floor...

I found a maid on SATURDAY
My week is now complete
My wife can quilt the hours away
The house will still be neat.

Well, now its only SUNDAY
I think I'm about to wilt
I cursed, I raved, I ranted
Cause the Maid has learned to QUILT !!!

Hope you all had a good one! 8-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Block 6 - Tulip Bowl - AppliqueI believe this was my first try at machine applique...
You can see the other 4 blocks I've posted already, and the write up behind it all with block #1 right here...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh my gosh! I'm some excited here! I just have to share this as I know there are more quilters out there that are fans of this!!! Through some hopping around I came to some Harry Potter paper-pieceing patterns here...
Do check it out! Fun stuff! 8-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We went out on Friday night to Olive Garden for a dinner meeting with DD2's future in-laws and our engaged children. We had a lovely meal and time together. I look forward to getting to know MrRose's parents better in the future! 8-)
Last night good friends W & J popped in for a visit!
They are what we call "life friends". They are the kind that are always there for you, you enjoy their company, and you never run out of things to talk about!
These are the friends we are headed to Las Vegas with in March... We are thinking that this trip will be a "much needed" getaway from "life" for a short while... Especially for me! 8-)
Hope you all had a great day and spoiled your sweethearts lots!
Happy stitchings!
Way to go ladies!!!
I am hoping all 21 of us are plugging along steadily in our quest to "get'er done"!! It will be great to see how many we can get done by June 30th!!! Wouldn't it be great if we can get the one's we've committed to all done!?!! 8-)
My 1st PhD for the challenge is done!
Sunflower Quilt completed!
DONE! Finally! 8-)Ruby's stamp of approval too yet! 8-)
This makes 1 done on my PhD list...
NEXT! 8-)
Ladies of the PhD Challenge,
Please do notify me of your finished projects so that I can mark them as done in my sidebar. With the busy time I'm having right now with my parents, I sadly do not have the time to peek in on you all just now...
Thanks! 8-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those inquiring, my mom got her stitches out this week, has started physio, and is already ahead of most at this stage of recovery, so she is well pleased... 8-)

Looking for used furniture on the Kijiji listings for my children (always looking for a good deal), I found Mom a recliner lift chair. (she had mentioned wanting one) DH, DS, and Mom went to check it out, and ended up coming home with it. A very good deal! Other than needing a bit of a shampoo cleaning, it is in great shape... A bit smaller than my dad's chair...
Mom is well pleased with this too... 8-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, about our two engaged darling daughters.
Since many of you had asked about this, here is the answer...
The girls will absolutely NOT be having a double wedding as they are each so different, and they both would not even hear of it...
For me though, having a double wedding would be much easier on us... LOL! Shucks!!! 8-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Off to take Dad to a doc's appointment, and Mom for a grocery shop stop. I hope it doesn't prove to be too much for her....

Happy sttitchings all! 8-)

Sunday Sampler @ Six - Block 4 & updates...

Steeplechase (Curved Piecing)
This is what the BOM instruction sheet called this block...
You can find the first 3 blocks and info on this BOM here...

For those inquiring, my mom is doing well. Her stomach is not agreeing with the T3s though, as she's been sick quite a few times now... Mom's stitches come out tomorrow, and then she visits physio to find out her appointment schedule. Then the real efforts begin!

Lots of snowfall last night and today... 8-(
Impatiently waiting for Spring...

My Aunt R (at ripe age of 95 years young) in British Columbia, Canada, had surgery yesterday to repair a broken hip. I am so very glad that all went well... 8-)
I pray all goes well for her recovery now...
Love you Auntie R! 8-)

To those of you that have joined in on my PhD challenge, I hope you are all able to keep up with yours! I'm not getting as far as I had hoped on my PhDs, so I'm hoping that the closet elves will complete them for me!!! lol! Wouldn't that be nice!?! I wish!!! 8-)

I also have to put some effort into my "starting row" of my group's Row Robin Projects this week! I've only been giving it "lots of thoughts" this last couple of weeks... 8-)

Happy stitchings!

A mailbox goody, and Sew & Tell!

The mailman brought me a goody a couple days ago!

He brought me this wonderful little bag/tote from blog friend Lurline, for our "personally agreed" PIF exchange... 8-)
Click here for her info post on this bag...
Isn't it adorable! It's wonderful! Great fabrics!
Perfect size for a grab and go hand project...
Thanks so much Lurline! 8-)
I shall use it well...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two things to show from Wednesday night... Pg's changes to the last Bunnyhills BOM block... Here it is waiting for the stitching, as she is still stitching on October's block... I like it with a tree...
Looks good Pg! 8-)
Next we have the final layout of all the blocks for our friend's comfort quilt... But then, we never say "final", cause it could change again... lol!!! Dl made a few brown and orange sashing pieces that you can see... They will form into stars on the corners of each block...This is what I was doing at the gathering... 8-)
Is it just me, or is blogger running slow for any of you?
Pfaffy felt ignored... 8-(
Yup! Sitting at my computer, Miss Pfaffy was softly whispering to me from behind. Reminding me that my Sunflower quilt was still waiting for its binding....Poor Pfaffy, I could not ignore her today... She was right, and since I had some time this afternoon, I got to it!!! Made and attached the binding today! FINALLY!!! 8-)
Now I have this project ready to bring to my parent's, and quilt groups to work on!!! Getting closer to a finished PhD! Can't forget to make a label too yet!!!
I find myself quite torn right now.... To do my PhD Challenge quilts, or make 2 Wedding quilts? Hmmmm...?... Perhaps one of my PhD's would make a good wedding quilt for DD1...?...? 8-)
I may have some Sew & Tell for you tomorrow, as I am heading to my CCC quilt group soon...
Minding my parents is first on the list though...
Till then, Happy Stitchings!
The last 2 "Pay It Forward" gifts received...
First, I thank you for all your wonderful comments, and your congrat wishes ladies!! I can say "ladies" cause that is who I get comments from! 8-)
Between being busy with my parents, and my overwhelmed feelings of emotions from this year's developments, I am deplete of energy to do anything more than a quick post, answer some emails, and lay in front of the TV...
I thank you all for your continued support...
You all brighten my day more than you can imagine! 8-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, on to the last of the Pay it Forward posts....

Well finally!!
Jenny and Blossom have received their PIF gifts!!! 8-)
Yaaaaaaay!!! I was really starting to worry about it! In fact, this past weekend I had decided I was going to make time to check with Canada Post about its whereabouts today!!!

A Cherry table topper, Peppermint pincushion, and a magazine for Jenny...
...and a large tote bag for young Blossom! 8-)
I am so very glad the package has reached its destination, and very happy that the gifts are pleasing to Jenny and Blossom... 8-)

God bless you all, and happy stitchings!
Myra

Oh my God!

I don't know how many more of these surprizes I can take this year!!!

DD1 and Mr Wisconsin came to a family gathering last night and announced they are engaged!!!
Another one I didn't get to say, "It's about time" to, cause it came so darn fast!!!
And lets just say the whole family was shocked!!!
And once again, especially Uncle T....

Congrats to DD1 & Mr Wisconsin!!! 8-)

Love,
Mom

PS: Friends and family, Mums the word on Facebook please...
