Dad's Surgery...

Well, my dad had his surgery on his neck/spine this afternoon, and the doctor said it couldn't have gone better! All went very well, and Dad looks no worse for wear... Groggy, no pain cause of the pain killers... for now...
Thank God... 8-)

As of right now, all the warnings of what could go wrong hasn't happened, so we are hopeful that by tomorrow that hasn't changed...

Tomorrow he tackles getting out of bed...

Wasp Traps Work!

I had mentioned in my last post about an after wedding gathering in our back yard. I neglected to mention our uninvited guests. Wasps, and I mean lots of wasps!!! It figures that our outside gathering would be at the start of wasp season...

All the glasses of pop/wine attracted at the least 50 "uninviteds" during the afternoon. Many were trapped in the plastic cups we were using, but quite a few were trapped in our wasp traps once we poured some pop into them...

Due to the moisture in the traps, it is hard to see them, but there is at least 10-12 in each...
They do work!!! Thank goodness! 8-)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is going to be a couple of busy days going back and forth to the hospital with mom, but if Dad is able to get around and such, he should be able to come home by Saturday/Sunday... Hopefully Monday at latest...
DD1 called this morn to say they reached their honeymoon destination, a private cottage somewhere in Wisconsin, and to see how her dear grandpa was...
Blessings DD1! 8-)
Back to getting my row for our Row Robin that is due for another exchange tomorrow evening...
Happy stitchings!
Wedding Day... and day after...
Our little family unit...
DH, self, DD1, DD2, & DS
(before our family grew to 6 a half hour later... next month it will grow to 7...)
The wedding couple...
DD1 dancing with her new hubby, MrFarmer...
Not the greatest photo... We had camera problems... 8-(
We had a wonderful day of festivities yesterday! A wonderful ceremony, great food, great company, and everything went well, except for the weather. Since we were indoors for the most part it was A-OK!!! I think we finally got to bed around 4-5am, after the wedding clean up at the hall, the long drive home, unloading and finding room for all the left over food... Whew!!!
This afternoon we had a a small group in for the gift opening at our place. Friends of the bride and groom... We are now beyond beat!!! Sleep can't come too soon... 8-)
Here is a photo of the quilt presentation... A "Farm" themed quilt was requested, and that is what she got! Yes, it still needs about 2 feet of binding sewn down... DD1 had me hopping too much this past week to get it done... 8-(
I shall take a full view photo when it is done...tomorrow!!!
The quilt will travel to the farm soon, when we go States-side for the US reception in a couple of weeks... Another big event apparently!!! It should be a great time! MrFarmer's family is awesome!!! 8-)
Next on the agenda; my dad's surgery early Tuesday morning... Monday will be a day of rest... 8-)
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
Going to bed now... ZZZzzzzz......
Sew & Tells from this week...
   I'm at DD1 and MrFarmer's wedding!!! 8-)
I shall reveal the first wedding quilt on Monday... Finally!!!
By Wednesday, it was already a long week... We moved our son out of his apartment that night, and back home... The continuing saga with  his ex GF, and now his room-mate, that created that spit decision to move...  Just what we needed amongst all the last minute wedding prep kaos around here, but it had to be done... 8-(
Can't wait till Monday!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you are all having a great weekend!
Getting there and count down is on!!!
First let me show you the turtles that DD2's future sister-in-law made for on the cake, for DD2's second shower last Sunday...
DD2 loves turtles!!! She may even have a couple of them, with top hat and veil, on top of her wedding cake! 8-)
This is what DD2 looked like after she answered a bunch of questions wrong for a "How well do you know MrRose?" game... Priceless! 8-)
Nearing the finish of DD1 and MrFarmer's wedding quilt!
Got the label on and a good start to the binding being hand sewn down...
I can only work on it when DD1 is out of the house...
I may have some help at my quilt group tonight... Wonderful ladies!!! 8-)
I have some of my Wasp Traps ready to go outside...
The wasps have been showing up the last few days... We don't want any bites when wedding company are over for some of the events...
Back to printing out and folding wedding programs...
Hope you are all having a great week!
Sorry I don't have time for blog visits at the moment!
Happy stitchings!
Saturday Sampler @ Six... Block 15
Block 15 - Overall Sam
You can view the first 14 blocks here... 8-)
Many of you have commented on my making these blocks while busy with weddings, and all that goes along with it, multiplied by two, but in actual fact, these blocks were made a few years ago...
This project is one of my PhDs.
My plan: Once I post the last block (block 25), I am hopeful that I will have them all put together into a quilt top to show. A start to my upcoming 2011 PhD Challenge... 8-)
This is what I've been doing this week...
Stitching together a big enough piece of batting, and a backing, for DD1 and MrFarmer's wedding quilt, which I quilted at Carellan Sewing Center on Friday...
Loading the frame...
Pinning/loading...
Unstitching... of course...
A peek at one small section... You'll see the rest soon enough! 8-)
I am hoping to get the binding and label finished up this coming week... Wish me luck! Time is closing in...
I'm still piecing DD2 and MrRose's wedding quilt too....
Have I mentioned that I am a sluggish quilter? LOL!
I work best under pressure... 8-)
Video of my goofy Ruby rolling in the grass... and Dora.
Hope you are all having a great weekend!
Last PhD Challenge post for 2010...
I have a bit of time today, so I finally have my post with the list/links to the wonderful gals that took an active part in my "2010 PhD Challenge" here. Perhaps you'd like to visit them...
They are Becky, Brenda G, Brenda P, Brenda S, Dianne, Edna, Em, Gina, Jill, Joanne, Katy, Lisa, Michelle, Narelle, Phyllis, Katherine, Marlene, Thearica, and Zlaty... I hope I didn't confuse your links...
Together we completed "70 Projects Half Done" that were sitting on our back-burners or forgotten!!! Way to go ladies!!! 8-)
You can see who the winners of my end of Challenge Giveaway were at the bottom of this post here... (click link)
My initial reason for the challenge was to get 5 of my PhDs off my back, but was interrupted with my 2 daughters' engagements and weddings (still in progress) and all that comes with it for this year...
I will be hosting another PhD Challenge starting January 2011, cause I still have to get mine done!!! Will you join me then? 8-)
PS: I've added Google Translate to my right sidebar.
Could those that use it let me know if it works well?
Still Kicking Here...
Yes I am still kicking... Exhausted, but kicking. lol!
I'm having issues with "regrouping" from some of the pre-wedding related planning and activities, so DD1 is very clear with me about what I can and cannot do come her wedding weekend. "We want you in good form for the wedding day Mom!!!" Dealing with MH-Issues for 8 years now, and I think I've been holding up really well during this crazy year, for what I had imagined of how I'd be coping during this countdown stage, so that is a darn good thing!!! Oh yes!!! 8-)
ANYWAY.... here are....
Photos from the Bridal Shower last Sunday...
Here are the gorgeous cupcakes that maid-of-honor Mk made. Click on the photo for a closer look. Aren't they wonderful!?!
Petals made with mini marsh-mellows, cut on an angle, then sticky cuts dipped in colored candy sprinkles, and arranged on icing topped cupcakes... Too cute!!! Mk stayed up till 3am the day of the shower making them! You rock Mk!! 8-)
DD2 loves turtles, so DD1 had this turtle shaped bread made for our Broccoli Dip...
DD2 thought it was wonderful... Great idea DD1!!! 8-)
The buffet style lunch...
DD2 doing her thank yous, DD1 with Dad's head wear.
I think that "Dad", bought the hat special, to wear to/at the weddings...
We had a surprize at the shower for DD1 too...
We had a disguised box "suggestions for a happy marriage" for DD2's Shower, so DD1 thought, but in reality it was for cards with monetary gifts for DD1 as a shower gift. She can use the money to buy items in the States for her future household in Wisconsin, to avoid any problems at the border, and have less to move when the time comes...
She was very surprized!!! lol!
Got'cha girl!!! 8-)
To all the shower guests, I say a big THANK-YOU for your wonderful gifts for both our daughter's, and a big THANK-YOU to those that helped with things before, during, and after the event, to make the shower a success!!! Your time and efforts are all very much appreciated... 8-)
Check out the quilts on this post of Zlaty's! Awesome quilts and very inspiring!!! 8-)
Saturday Sampler @ Six... Block 13
This was a scheduled post...
Block 13 - Jacob's Ladder
 You can view all the other posted blocks so far here...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had to fit in a show & tell from this week.
This is Dk's wonderful quilt top.
 Sorry I haven't been blog visiting ladies. DD1 is back up from Wisconsin, so my life is not my own right now, and probably for the next long while. Shower stuff to do, wedding stuff to do, Dad's surgery right in between both DD's weddings, 2 mother of the bride outfits secured... Life is NUTS... to put it mildly. 8-)

I have some "scheduled" Saturday Sampler posts ready to pop up, but if I am not blogging for a while, I wish you all safe travels and good health... 8-)

I will be back in touch soon...
Happy stitchings!
