When my friend Jc goes camping...

Besides kayaking and hiking, Jc brings these important items along with her too... 8-)
Doesn't this set up look cozy?
This is one definition of a true quilter!!! 8-)

Way to go Jc!!!

Hope you have a great long weekend!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for all your comments on my last post. We are so thankful that our guys are home... A little poison ivy, but that is nothing compared to what could have been... 8-)
My dad will have surgery on his neck a couple of days after DD1's wedding. At least that is the plan from the surgeon. We don't have a definite date yet though. But if it works out that way, and all is well for Dad afterwards (cause we are not even thinking of the what ifs), the surgeon says he may even walk a bit better too. That would be great, and hopefully he will be up to attending DD2's wedding...
Dovies on the hydro pole by my backyard...
My Dora fur-girl today... 8-)
I will be along to visit your blogs, hopefully tomorrow, as I've been busy with wedding/shower stuff, and still need to buy an outfit for DD1's big day...
Stay safe this long weekend! 8-)
We didn't need this...
I had a trying day today. DH and DS went with my DBrother and his friend on a 1 day canoe trip and fishing. Left at 5:45am Tuesday, and were to be home Tuesday night. At midnight they were not home but I wasn't worried as he has come home quite late on one of these occasions before.... I was up at 6am for "natures call" (which I would normally go to bed again), but I noticed my hubby didn't grab a towel to shower, as he normally does when home from such a day in the sun... Checked his bed, not slept in. (Yes we sleep in different rooms, what of it!?! lol!), and no sign of him having been there. He was to start a day shift at 7:00 this morning too yet... Hmmmm....
Emailed to Sis-I-L to call me if she was up. Couldn't wait for her call, so by 6:45am I was on the phone with authorities, after a few wrong calls, a call to hubbies work, and finally the RCMP. I gave the story, the vehicle info, physical descriptions, dates of birth, their experience in the wilderness, and was told they would first check to see if the vehicle was still at the boat launch site.... by 8:30am I was called and told that "the vehicle was still there and that they would get out onto the water to do a search, and I may not hear from them for 3 to 5 hours due to no cell service out there." which I knew already having tried each of them several times....
SIL came over around noon for us to worry together, and by 2:45pm I finally heard back from the RCMP that they were OK, but held back because of a 1.5 foot water level increase over the day, which made a pass through a tunnel dangerous because of the strong current . The boys spent the night unprepared and I could just imagine the bug bites... The authorities helped bring the canoes and gear up and over the 100 ft incline and drop, and towed them back through a second tunnel, and then the boys found their own way back to the boat launch and home...
When the boys got home, they said thank God you called the RCMP, and that the RCMP told them that they had seriously thought they would need 4 body bags for this situation... Whew!
Thank God our boys are home, safe and sound in their beds now... What a day! I didn't need this with everything else going on lately...
...And because every post needs a photo, here is a photo of my fur-girls basking in the sun yesterday afternoon without a care in the world... Oh to be a dog!! 8-)
Tomorrow is another challenge... My dad and the nero surgeon appointment, and then a sleep deprived test of some sort at the hospital on Friday... When it rains it pours!!!
Have a blessed sleep people!
G'Night!
Happy stitchings!!
 (this was a prescheduled post)
PS: I just had to sneak this tidbit in today for you all to check out! Lurline had a link in one of her posts, to Karen's wonderful wholecloth post
Do check it out as the creation is just beautiful!!! Beautiful work done, and beautiful to look at... 8-)
A toxic mix...
I mixed a homemade solution to try to kill weeds today. I think the mix was fine until I put in some bleach for good measure. WOW! Talk about a breathing shock!!! That was about 45 minutes ago as I type this, and I'm still bothered by it... I think a mask may help next time, and hopefully the mixture will kill all that I put it on...
THE MIX
Salt
Vinegar
2 T. Liquid Dish Soap
recipe from friend Sd, she uses it all the time...
and my contribution of Bleach... Why? Don't ask... I think I will omit it next time and see how it goes... Whew!!!
This is the view of a cloud formation that we saw on our way to my parent's last night... It was awesome to see, but the photo doesn't do it justice!!
Mom needed a haircut from me, and then we played 2 games of Wizard... I lost twice, but I think I am hooked on that game!!! Fun stuff!!!
Have a great weekend everyone!!
Passport Wallet Done...
...but don't look too close at my stitching!! I had trouble going over all the layers trying to sew it closed from turning out... First one made is the trial though, right!?!
It be mine anyway... lol!
My first time using a snap closure like that... easy-peasy! 8-)
Thanks for the tutorial Annemiek!
I have a few more to make! 8-)
The inside of the Passport Wallet
I made a few cutting boo-boos, modifications, and fussy cut the Pug pups to show nice and whole, only to...
... cut off a pups head with my passport inserted!!! Grrrrr....
Perhaps I should have put the Pug print on the outside, and the paw print on the inside... Lesson learned! 8-)
My brain wasn't working at full speed at all yesterday at Wonky Bits, when I was planning and cutting... 8-/
I am very happy with it though, and will use it for my trips to Wisconsin to visit DD1 in the future... It will always be ready to grab and go, and hopefully with US currency at the ready! I've been known to have forgotten to do an exchange before leaving Canada!!! Not good... 8-/
Off to go "mother-of-the-bride" dress shopping with the DH now... Hopefully it will turn out to be worth the effort today...
Happy stitchings!
Show and Tells...
  We had a Christmas in July Potluck at my city group last night. YUM!!!
We were supposed to trade our Row Robin boxes too (I did finish my row in the nick of time), but our box organizer brought the wrong record book with her, so we will get them next week... I look forward to it!!! 8-)
This is Dl's D9-P flimsy using only 3 fabrics... It will not have any borders... Looking good D! 8-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today's S&T from Wonky Bits...
This is Pd's music themed gift for a niece. She has a couple of borders to add yet... Looking good P!!! 8-)
 Jb's polar fleece blankie that she made to snuggle under... Love the print J!! 8-)
This is Jb's pot-holders/candle-mats...
 Lp's WIP...
 Lp's Christmas flimsy that we helped sandwich today... 8-)
I spent my time cutting fabrics for some Passport Sleeve/Wallets.
Making a few... OK 7!!!
 You can find the tutorial for it on my friend Annemiek's blog.
Yes the pug one is mine... 8-)
Stay tuned for the finish...

Cousins from the Netherlands...

My cousin and her husband were in Winnipeg for 4 full days to visit with family before their 20 day holiday in the States...
It was nice to see them again!
This was H's first visit to Canada, and G's third visit...

Look at the wonderful gift of goodies my cousin brought from Holland for me!!! Yum!!! Thanks Cousin!!! 8-)
We had a BBQ dinner here yesterday with my family. My kids have never met H before, and barely recall meeting G in the past... It was a beautiful day spent mostly outside on the deck...
They shared some wonderful family photos with us, and some very old, of family past (early 1900s), on their notebook. I recalled that I have a memory stick that he could share them with us, as most of them we haven't seen before... 8-)
I may have to share some on the blog soon...

I am considering my "extremely busy weekend" done today... I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and had great weather!

Now, I need to work away on my row for my group's Row Robin Project!!! It is due tomorrow, at our City group's Christmas in July potluck... Wish me luck to have my row done, cause I need it!!! lol! 8-)

Happy stitchings!

Back from a weekend away...

We, DH, DS, DD2 & MrRose, went to Ontario for our friend's, daughter's, lakeside wedding this past weekend...
First stop was "doggy hotel" for the fur-girls.
They did pretty good, but we'll see how they react when we get there again next month...
A pit stop at the Manitoba/Ontario border...
DS and DH ...typical horse play...
The lovely fully equipped cottage we stayed in...
We had a beautiful view from the deck...
Friday night we had a BBQ, played cards and had a fun evening... 8-)

The clocks on the wall in the cottage...
Where we stayed, it was Shebandowan time, 3-5 minutes down the road East it was Thunderbay time. Question was, "which one do we refer to for the wedding we came here for!?!?!!"

Some of the wedding guests patiently waiting for the big event to start...
The groom and groomsmen all arrived by boat 5 minutes before the bride appeared...
The beautiful bride and her father... 8-)
The wedding in progress...
The reception tent and the wedding party waiting to make their grand entrance...
The side of the tent removed for ventilation and a lovely view of the lake...
After the dinner, speeches, and first dances, the groom and the groomsmen went for a jump off the dock... Photographer in boat...
...and the bride was also easily coerced into doing the same... 8-)
It was a lovely wedding, and a great weekend away...

Thanks family T!!! 8-)
See you at our DDs' weddings..

Some of my Delft Blue treasures...

To procrastinate a bit of what all needs doing around here, I thought I'd spend a bit of time doing a post of some of my Delft Blue treasures...

Imagine my surprize at seeing a bunch of new icons and methods to make a "new post"!! Yikes!!! All I did was what Julie recommended in this post here to see what this "stats" thing was all about... LOL!
I seem to be doing ok here... 8-)

Top shelf, my Dutch Delft goodies. Bottom shelf left, DH's Polish treasures. Center, a gifted pink candle, and a floral/wooden-shoe treasure inherited from an Aunt. At right, my gifted Angel treasures...
More of my Delft items... My little windmill that was on the top shelf broke beyond repair in our last move... 8-(
Salt and Pepper Piggies... and the 6 little spice canisters I received from my cousin in Holland... Love this little kitchen shelf... 8-)
Delft bottle from my grandmother. It used to hold some sort of liqueur...
The plate is one of 4 with different scenes on them. Bought at the Dutch Pavilion during our city's 2 week "Folklorama Festival" every year in August. This festival has pavilions of about 25 to 30 different nationalities. A good time that people from all over come to visit...
Now to get back at what I've been procrastinating... 8-(
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PS: I've investigated a wonderful "doggy hotel" (that I will remember to photograph next time, to share photos) that friend Cd recommended as I need to kennel my fur-girls for 4 weekends in the next 3 months...
Doggie Hotel will be their first experience with such...
I hope it goes well for them!!!
Dora
Ruby
Their new pillow covers that I was prepared to sew, but decided to use my DD's never used skirts. Insert pillow, tuck in waste and bottom of skirt! It works! 8-)
Blue-jean fabric is so much easier to keep clean of shedding fur...
OK! That's it! Back at it now Myra!!!
Happy stitchings Quilters!!!
I'm such a procrastinator!!! 8-)
Saturday Sampler @ Six... Block 9
Block 9 - 9 Patch on Point...
The 9-patch itself will not end up on point the way I'll be using it... Pretty much a boring block, if I do say so myself...
Wonky Bits Show & Tell
We were a small but enjoyable group at Wonky Bits yesterday, with only show and tell to photograph...
This is Pg's table topper. Great fabrics P!
Love the look! 8-)
I hope to make this pattern in Christmas fabrics for this coming Christmas... I hope! 8-)
It is done in the quilt as you go method, same as used for these table toppers, and from the same pattern, only a different layout...
You can check out the play I had with the pieces of the table topper I made here...
The pattern designer is Marie Minaudier. Marie doesn't have a website, but some of her patterns can be found on the Quilters' Jewel website here...
Have a great weekend friends!
Happy stitchings!
Country Rose Group Show & Tells...
I haven't really shown much Sew, Show & Tell for some time now, and that is because I haven't been getting to many of my quilt gatherings for the last 4 to 6 weeks. One of my groups gather weekly, and the 2 other groups gather twice a month each, so I've been missing a lot of female bonding and shared creativity time... 8-(
Last night I did make it to our Country Rose gathering!!!
It was wonderful to see you gals again!!! ... Finally!!! 8-)
This is Gk's wonderful Springy table topper! Complete with bead-work flower centers... Love your color/fabric selections G!!! 8-)
This Christmas table topper is Bs' creation! B is a fairly new quilter... Looking darn good there girl!-friend!!! 8-)
Someone bought a new T-Shirt she had to show off!!!
Awesome T Cd!!! Love it! 8-)This is Rs' lovely Dresden Plates she is just about ready to sash! Very pretty colors R! Looking great! 8-)
Pc was busying herself with hand-quilting this beauty! I think she has her work cut out for her, but she enjoys it, and it is easy for an "on the run - grab and go" for quilt night project! P, you go girl!!! 8-){Sadly, I can't show you what I've been working on until after each of the weddings...}
Here, I just wanted to show you the mushrooms I have to pick every morning, sometimes 2 handfuls, before I let Ruby out, or she'll eat them all!!! Dora doesn't bother with them...
I don't know if they are poisonous, so this worries me.... Can you see me, in my PJs first thing in the morning picking these!?! LOL! 8-)
I am planning to get to our Wonky Bits group tomorrow, so hopefully I will have some more lovely creations to share with you...
Happy stitchings!
