Tactile goodies...

Went to a fabric warehouse today to pick up the Pug fabric that a friend told me about, and of course more than that has to be bought... 8-)
The striped fabric for a PhD that I was short of... The cows just because... The brown for landscape quilts...
...and the fruit!?! That's for trying out the stack and whack pattern... Should be interesting, when I get around to it... :-/

The "doctored up" photo in the last post was done just to "hide" their identity... Simple as that... 8-)

A bit of sew and tell....

I don't have much to show for myself, but at least I have something to show of my wonderful quilting friends...

This is Pg's "picket fences" and a photo inset of the backing she used...
Looks great P! 8-)
Dk's "Cat" quilt in the process of having the binding sewn down... Bright and happy colors! 8-)
Another of Dk's, the "Pinwheel", also ready for sewing down the binding... Hand sewing the binding on quilts is a great bring along to work on...
Looking good Dk! 8-)
Finally, can you believe that 4 of 8 of us coincidentally wore green!?! Too funny!!! lol!
I hope you are all having a wonderful summer...?...or winter for some of you... 8-)

Wonky Bits yesterday...

6 of 13 ladies came out for our Wonky Bits day. We had some really good laughs and a good time! 8-)

First photo up are 2 of Pd's 6 place-mats that she is making for a Christmas gift... Needs to be machine appliqued, binding on, and then done!
Love the fabrics/pattern! 8-)

We played with Lp's D9-P blocks. She is making a Fall table topper to donate for a silent auction table... Here is a long sample...
... And here is a square sample...
We shall see which one Lp decides on...
Beautiful Fall colors! 8-)

And finally, we have Lp's wall-quilt. A Simple Pleasures pattern, by Terry Atkinson, "Rind Around the Posies". Lp was hand-sewing the binding some today...
Looking good L! 8-)
In case you are wondering what I worked on today, my good'ole Hexagons... 8-)

Some sew and tell.... no fish!

Last night was a quilt gathering night and I was able to make it this time. Seems like weeks since I've been... Not many gals as there usually are, but fun and laughs we had, and a few of us also went to Tim's for coffee after-wards... A late night for me! 8-)

This is Cd's Cardinals. Last night she finished up the hand work on it, and is ready for sandwiching and hand quilting... All hand work on this project. I
think she was tired of lugging around her machine too... 8-)
Looks wonderful Cd!!! 8-)
(Oh! There is K from Quilter Going Bananas on the edge of the photo!)

This is Pg's progress on the blocks from the "A Tiskit A Tasket BOM" being offered by Anne Sutton of Bunny Tails... Pg has increased the blocks by 20%, and has done a wonderful job of them. Love her fabrics! Looking good Pg!!! 8-)
This is Yn's work from a class she took a week or two back. Not sure if she has another class for it or not...?... hmmm? Anyway, if you click on the photo for a closer look, you will see that it is indeed woven and sewen down on a backing. Pattern in photo too... Looking good so far Yn!!! 8-)
That is it for anything quilty for now... I am deep into reading the "last" Harry Potter book, and you will notice still not doing much emailing/blogging...

On the night stand...sorta speak...

Been laying low... Spending time reading "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"... Getting geared up to see the new Harry Potter movie with DS next weekend. First we will do a Harry Potter marathon of all the movies thus far, and then head on over to see the new movie... I know! We are nuts! We've gone to every Harry Potter movie together. He is 21, why stop now!?! One more book to be made into a movie after that...?... Then what will we do!?! Hmmmm....? lol! 8-)

DH left Friday morning to go to a friend's for a weekend of fishing and and some home renovations... Saturday night, 11pm, DH scared the baggeebers out of me by coming home a day early. I guess well made plans are not always well made.

At any rate, he did end up meeting DD2 and her BF's family at a lake out that way to fish with them before he came home... This is DD2's latest catch! What a biggy hey!?!! I think DH said it was a 27-incher... Way to go Mamers!!! 8-)

Yesterday we finished up some more landscaping in the back yard, and kept up with watering the newly laid sod...

Sorry I haven't done much blog hopping/visiting lately. I found that I really need to take a break, so please be patient with me... 8-)

Have a good day everyone, and thanks for your visits! 8-)

She is definitely not squeamish...

We know DD2 isn't squeamish with her lizards, and here are this month's photos (off her camera) of her with more goodies...
Fishing with Mr Rose's family. His 9 year old brother likes to bash the fish with his fist over the head to kill them. Caught DD2 off guard when posing for a photo and the fish got bashed out of her hands... She had some of a mess from that all over herself, and she laughed!!!
Another one of her catches that day...

One of her catches on a day of fishing with her dad and Mr.Rose...
A fishing weekend at her friend's family cottage. A family fishing derby event... What is fishing without the token catfish catch!?!
This just baffles me... Where ever DD2 goes, she comes across turtles!!! This one is very colorful...
Once out walking as a family, she found a 3-inch snapper turtle on the road that was about 12 meters from the creek... She loves turtles!!! Her room is full of turtle things... A turtle light, a turtle pillow, ornaments, earrings, necklaces, etc...

Our DD1 is the squeamish one... She would rather be cooking! She is a wonderful cook! 8-)

DS is also one that enjoys fishing... But would much rather be partying...
---------------------------------
With all the rain we had the other day, I didn't have to water the sod, and today I woke to another downpour, thunder and lightening, AND hail again... So, we are good for another couple of days... 8-)

...and an now the sun is shining and the sky is blue with the odd cloud... 8-)

Sorry, no quilty stuff again... Missed both my quilting gatherings this week due to a family situation... Maybe next week I shall have some sew and tell from them...

Downpour and Hail...

Sorry! No quilt/sewing things to post about today. I seem to have lost my mojo in that area again... Not good since I have the hollyhock wall-quilt to finish for August 8th!!!

We, the Wonky Bits ladies, got some very sad news this week. The 42 year old pastor from the Baptist church (that we had been getting to know when we use their basement for our Wonky Bits gatherings) died Sunday morning from the H1N1 virus. He leaves behind his wife, 2 young children, and a church community that thought the world of him... May Pastor Perry rest in peace, and God bless his family...
Our Wonky Bits gathering will be held in my home this week...

My first"spliced" photo here is how our front yard looked after our day of dirt and sod on Saturday. If you click on the photo you should be able to see the 6 plants put in by the living-room window. The other side of the sidewalk we will wait with plants till next year... I am hoping we will not have to dig there to fix the crack in our foundation. I am counting on DH's "inside" fixings to be enough... but with our luck it won't be so...
The last couple of days I had been making sure to keep up on watering our new sod, and late yesterday afternoon I had some help. A downpour and hail around 6:30pm. Was it ever noisey!!!I don't think I will have to water today! 8-)

Plants and Sod...

First, I must say,
"Happy 4th of July"
to all my American friends! 8-)

---------------------------------------------
DH cut the grass and stoned up the backyard flower bed yesterday... Dear fur-girl Ruby keeps eating things out of there, so I had suggested an edging of chicken-wire to keep her out, or something as she makes herself sick (in the house). DH said we'll try these rocks first as we had a collection of them from last summer's clean up of this "new" old house's yard... Looks pretty good! Just needs some more plants and to be filled in with some of the smaller rocks! 8-)
And that shrubby thing in the middle of the lawn is coming out in the Fall and getting planted somewhere else...
H picked up some soil and sod last night and laid it down...
This photo was taken this morning...

Here is what we are looking like so far... The previous owners didn't have anything in the big front flower beds. All they did was use Roundup Weedkiller to keep it clean for the 3 years that they lived here...
DH with 30 more pieces of sod this morning, unload and then....
off to the garden center for some shrubs and plants...
Into the van and home to plant... 8-)
We are only planting about a third of the shrubs and perennials that we need this year, and will tackle more next Spring... Pretty costly. 8-)
-------------------------------------------
Check out this awesome wedding dance video.
Very creative and entertaining! 8-)
A friend of mine emailed it to me this morning...
