The weekend past...

On Friday night I decorated our little table topper tree...
Here it is in 3 different camera settings...
Being a small tree this year, I chose to only put in my favorite light weight decorations... Mostly homemade ones... 8-)

I thought I wouldn't be able to buy another addition to my village this year, as last year I had these pieces jammed into one of my shelves. DH had the great idea of pulling out the drawers on the wall-unit, lay two 2x4s across them, and set the village on there. Works out great, and I think I can indeed add a new piece this year!!! 8-)
I have no room to set up my inherited Nativity Scene this year, but there are 2 small Nativities in the tree! 8-)
I love living in string lighting and candles during the holidays...
As you can tell on the photos...
But my family didn't care for it when we had them all over last night for DS's birthday... 8-(
"It's too dark!" "Can't see what I'm eating!" "I can barely see you!"

My 6'5" baby of the family turns 22 this coming Wednesday, but he works a lot of overtime that we decided to have it on Sunday... I feel the poor boy always gets the short end having his birthday so darn close to Christmas... He was supposed to enter the world on Dec 15th twenty-two years ago....!!!!! lol!

At any rate, we had a nice gathering, the Dairy Queen ice-cream cake was yummy, and we get to have everyone over again on Boxing Day, for our Christmas...

Today I finished up the coffee table's Christmas table-toppers for my mother... I did the stitch and flip out method on them, but next time I will stick to doing a binding...
I put a Gingerbread backing on them... 8-)
Well that is the update from my weekend...

I have to finish "making my list, and checking it twice", so that I only have to be out and do the final bits of shopping once before the 3 days of Christmas is upon me... 8-)

Hope you are keeping well with the business of the season!
Myra

I LOVE your pictures, the village display idea (those gears are still turning in that old guy's head hey?), your little tree and your lights are simply amazing. I hope they are all LED lights?

Thanks for sharing with us Myra! Very festive!

I too am checking my lists and writing out my schedule so I don't forget when to do what as my mind tends to wander a lot and the clock doesn't stop for anyone! I also noticed the more time one perceives to have, the bigger the plans get and 'poof' before you know it...the time is upon us and from lots of time to no time. Did you get all that? Ok - looking forward to seeing you and all soon!
Love SANTA! HO HO HO!

oh the tree looks great, home made ornaments are the best. The kids with birthdays near Christmas I always felt sorry for, almost would want to celebrate them in July for their half birthday!
I am sure you make him feel special for his birthday.

Love that gingerbread fabric, very cute for the backing..

The lights and Christmas things you have out look great!! Very festive. And Happy Birthday to your son!!! We have a couple birthdays very close to Christmas too, boxing day being one of them, and I have always felt they got the short end of the stick too.
Have a very Merry Christmas Myra!!!

Hi Myra. I love all the lights and candles in your house. One of my favorite things to do at Christmas is after everyone goes to bed sit in the dark w/just the tree lit and enjoy the peace!
You're header Christmas card with your puppies is adorable-if I try to get mine to sit beside each other for a picture one of them is always looking the wrong way and invariably a play session of running through the house begins-which is funny as heck to watch, except for the last few days- Otis, the little one has discovered hiding in the corner behind the christmas tree. :)
Merry Christmas to you.

It sounds like it is a busy time around your house.

We have a grandson with a birthday on Christmas day. I guess your son just didn't want to arrive any earlier!

Love the gingerbread fabric that you used on the backing. Very cute.

Merry Christmas!

I know someone whose daughter has a b'day on the 26th and it is celebrated in June...for her half b'day each year. I love your little tree and what a CLEVER idea to display the village!!! Sounds like something my hubby would dream up.

The lights look very festive and it reminds me of our house in Marietta where my husband would string lights around our downstairs family room.

Have a wonderful Christmas.

Hi Myra, Love all the decorations and your hubby was so clever. My son was due on the 28th and didn't arrive until Jan. 2nd (almost 31 years ago.) We missed out on claiming him at income tax time. ;-)
Have a Very Merry Christmas with the family.
