Made a simple little tree skirt today...

I have a small Christmas tree on one of our side coffee tables that needed a little tree-skirt, and now it has one! 8-)

I had trouble making a perfect 24" circle, so I thought to try using a pivot point at Pfaffy and see how that goes... It went pretty good! Got a perfect circle. 8-)

Left an opening to turn out, and instead of clipping I cut little arches around the whole thing. I had seen this somewhere, thus thought to try it. Worked out pretty good! Once turned out I just shook it out, ironed, and top-stitched.

I then cut an off center hole for the tree, clipped, turned under the edge, top-stitched, and done! The hole is big enough to put the tree stem through, and then put the little legs on it to stand...

Here is a little video of the pivoting...

Check this out, "Daddy in the crib with baby" YouTube Video... funny...

Time to go and decorate the little tree... 8-)

I purchased three prim style artificial trees last week and I have no tree skirt for them. I have a very fancy one that just doesn't suit them. I am out of time, so they may just get a quilt draped around them. Glad to see you got busy and made a skirt for your tree.

Happy decorating!

I think that Daddy would have been better off just taking her into his bed.

Very cute little tree skirt. I just gave my son a "little" christmas tree for his first apartment....I think it needs a little tree skirt too!

Your little tree skirt looks great ,you'll have to post a picture of the tree decorated .
The video was funny .I can remember a few nights when my kids were small I felt like doing the same thing( of course I didn't )

What a clever idea - leaving a hole for the trunk of the little tree. I have my own little tree in my kitchen but it's made of twigs.

Great tree skirt. I've got an attachment for my Janome that lets me pivot fanbric but I don't think it'll go that large. I'll have to have a go

Love and hugs Gina xxx

I love the off center hole! -perfect for draping over a bookcase. ;) Now I hope I remember the idea for next year when I get out the small trees. LOL

That was a great idea Myra! It looks like I am behind on my blog reading, but I enjoyed your other posts as well. I saw the Daddy in the crib, and thought WHY did he climb in there and film it also. I would never fit in a crib....ha! Funny though, the lengths we go to to get them to sleep and stay asleep for more than an hour.

It´s funny how traditions are different between countries, here the tree always stands ON the skirt, never with a hole in it :)
