Fabrics needed...

Tomorrow, on our way home from the retreat, we will all be stopping in at Oma's Quilt Shop for a look-see, and of course to spend money! 8-)

Me? Well I will be looking for some batiks to make this lovely wall-quilt for my parents' 50th Anniversary on August 8th. Lets see? May, June, July, and one week in August? Yep! It should be doable, even for me! 8-)

Last road trip to Oma's, she was waiting for a large order of batiks to come in, so I am hoping it has... First though, I will have to check what I have in my stash that I could use, I don't have much, but I should be able to find some for the flowers... 8-)

I bought this pattern last summer, already with my parents 50th in mind, but it slipped my mind till a couple of weeks ago. The Hollyhocks will remind my mother of her parents (my grandparents of course), as they used to grow Hollyhocks all along the south side of their home... 8-)

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

What a pretty wall quilt! Your parents will love it. I also remember your grandparents' hollyhocks. We had some at our farm when I moved here in '83 but I dug them out as they seemed to take over. And guess what ... each year I still have to dig up new ones that sprout from seeds that have been dormant since 1983!!! Nuisance things!

I love that pattern. Hope you find some gorgeous fabric to go with it. I'm sure your mom and dad will love the quilt. Will you quilt it by hand or machine?

What an interesting pattern. I have never been around any hollyhocks. Have only seen pictures. There are so many pretty batiks on the market any more. You should be able to come up with just something right for the pattern.

I've looked closely at the pattern and can see why you would choose batiks. The fabrics will give you that nice color blending effect. Already, I'm looking forward to progress pictures. No pressure!

Oma had a booth at the Barnswallows show. She has beautiful fabrics. I only bought one fat quarter because we are planning a trip in USA next week and I'll buy there.
