I gots some splaining to do...

It seems that my comment in a previous post about a photo of my DH "starting to look like an old man" was taken poorly by a few. If you knew me, you'd know it was said in fun... Sorry if I offended you, and/or gave you the wrong impression of the kind of person I am...

We had lots of laughs at last night's Crescentwood gathering!! Lots of laughs!!! All I managed to get done is to applique 4 bell flowers. When I go out for my quilt meetings, if it is anything less the 3 hours, chances are that I will usually bring some hand-work. I truly don't care to carry around a sewing machine, be it Feathers, Kenny, or Pfaffy, unless I really have to... So, a little progress on a UFO last night is better than none... 8-)

I thought I would post a photo of my floor hoop since Quilt Pixie posted about hand-quilting today... It got me thinking... I bought a floor hoop a while back from a friend that didn't like it, with the intention that I use it to hand-quilt my first quilt that I made about 5 years ago. It had been sandwiched, basted, and ready to go since then. I did manage a bit of quilting on it at the time, but other things/classes seem to take priority... Perhaps I should dig it out and have it ready to use on my hoop at will...and time allowing...
I haven't tried this hoop out yet, but I am already thinking that I am not going to like the little wheels on it. They may come off... Hopefully they can come off!!! So then next posted photo of this hoop should have my Many Thanks quilt on it an ready to stitch!!! 8-)

Myra, I found your comment funny -- sounds like something I'd say jokingly to my DH too!
I think you're right -- the wheels on the hoop may become an issue. I have a Grace floor hoop and love it, but it's not on wheels!

Some people say that leaving a quilt in the hoop gives it "wrinkles" where the hoop sits, but I truly would never get it done without leaving it up... The casters look handy for positioning it just right where you're working, but yes, I'd be loosing them, or putting little protectors under them to keep it from shifting around... Never used a floor hoop myself -- I either go for the full floor frame like a quilting bee or the hand held hoop. Hope you find the floor hoop works for you.

Myra,
Your applique looks perfect! I am still learning. I have only quilted with a hand held hoop also, so I can get all comfy. But I love the look of your hoop. I would probably use it for decorative purposes...but that is just me.

I just wanted to say I love your pugs, they are so cute, we are thinking of getting one from a resuce/shelter.

Lovely quilts as well.
