..... QUILTING FOREVER, HOUSEWORK WHENEVER .....

One of those days...grrrr....

Big intentions to get more of the Sudoku quilt done today, but guess what I did!?! I locked myself out of the house... and now have no energy for sewing... :-/

I went outside with the fur-girls for a 10 minute sit on the deck for some fresh air at 3:30pm, just before I was planning to turn Pfaffy on. Then, once I felt "cooked" enough (1o minutes in 27*C - thank goodness this did not happen yesterday with 30*C temps) I got up to go in with the fur-girls. The inside door knob was locked!!!! Sheesh!!! 8-(

You see, normally I would only close the storm door, but I put the A/C on this morning, and I did not want to loose all that nice cool air (I hate heat), so I closed the inside door... obviously not realizing the handle was still locked. I hate those knobs that you can open from the inside, but not on the outside...Deceiving...

I would normally have my phone with me, but today I decided not to bring it with... DUH! :-/ At least I had my glass with me, or I would have been drinking from the garden hose!!! I had to water the fur-girls down too. Pugs don't do well in the heat...

Borrowed the neighbors cell only to realize that I only know one phone number, DD2s (darn speed dial), and her cell was out of service.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......So we sat there, against the house, slowly loosing any and all shade (I don't do sun sitting)......

Darling DH rounded the corner of the house shortly after 6pm... The fur-girls and I all jumped for joy as soon as we heard the chainlink fence gate rattle... 8-)

This will not be happening again!!!

One funny thing to mention here, I visited Winifred's blog last night and she had posted a funny YouTube video. Victoria Wood's "Lets do it!" Do go and check it out...even if you don't NEED a laugh just now... 8-)

I'm sorry to admit this to you, Myra...but I did have a bit of a laugh at you locked out of the house. I think it's because I always tease my friends who rely on the phone lists in their cell phones and, therefore, do NOT have any other phone #'s committed to memory. I am one who DOES have #'s committed to memory, so I'd have been fine on a borrowed phone to call for someone with a key to let me in. I know it wasn't funny to you when it happened, but I did have a good chuckle over it. (Sorry about that....LOL....still laughing a bit here.)

I am sorry to hear you were outside for so long. I have locked myself out before too and it was not fun. I look forward to seeing more of the Sudoku quilt.

Oh My, Myra! I feel your frustration! I've done that myself and is it ever maddening! I suppose it takes times like that to make us realize how blessed we are to have homes to be locked out of!

Oh Myra, sorry to say, but I kind of got a chuckle out of it too. I am sure your furbabies wondered why you didn't let them in out of the heat.LOL I did that once. I hate those kind of door knobs. I was lucky. Our kids were still home. I removed a screen and had my son crawl in the window and let us all in. LOL We were lucky that the window wasn't locked. I hope your day is better tomorrow. Oh Myra, I was locked out of our other house a few years ago myself. I was home alone that day and decided to have a shower. It's a good thing I didn't undress in my room and then go to the bathroom because....the bathroom door knob broke and I was locked in the bathroom. DH was not scheduled to come home for hours and hours! So I put my jammies on (no shoes) and climbed out of the little bathroom window (which had been painted shut, but my father-in-law fixed this just weeks before this incident) and went to my neighbours! I had to call my cousin to come and pick me up.

sounds very frustrating... My neighbor and I each have a key to other's house hidden in our yards, for such an eventuality. They've been used more than once!

How frustrating but you made me think ,some days hubby is gone for 16 hours so after reading your story I decided to take the spare key out and hide it in the yard .I can only imagine how warm you and the fur babies were .

been there and done that so many times. We've since changed our doors to ones that can't lock on their own.

Oh Myra, that must have been so frustrating! I'm glad your husband wasn't late getting home.

I found myself wondering how long you were out there. It sounded like a long time. I worry all the time that I will do that and not have my phone to ask for help. I dislike pants without pockets for this reason. No place to load up keys and phones when you are out in the yard.

Wow, that doesn't sound fun! When our kids were small, DD used to love to push lever's and was always locking the screen as we were leaving the house. I learned to keep a screwdriver handy as well as my keys. ;-)

Oh no -- what a frustrating afternoon. I bet the time passed soooo much slower than if you had been inside sewing. I have to admit I got a laugh out of your story, though!

Let me share a funny story with you. I was to teach a quilting class at a shop about 70 miles away. I was home alone. I loaded the car with all I needed except my purse. Back to get it but realized I was locked out of the house. I had the car keys but no house key as had come off the chain and was in my purse. I looked for the hidden key and could not find it. I had no cash for the toll road to get where I needed and the toll road is about the only way to go to get where I needed to be in time. No cell phone because that was in my purse. What to do? I thought about borrowing cash from the neighbor for the toll road and just going. I looked for the hidden key again. No luck. Decided to see if I could get in a window. Found one unlocked and crawled in. Retrieved my purse and headed out to teach. When I arrived home, I reached down in the car for the garage door opener and opened the garage. Door between the garage and house is unlocked. Here I could have done that all along as the car was open and the opener readily available! And the hidden key was where it was supposed to be. I just didn't reach in the right area. Duh!

From friend Sandi,

and you all laughed at me when I got locked out, in my underwear, so hahaha
now I have a spare key in the garage.

Yes those door knobs are not good. I really can´t laugh, you had to wait so long. I hope the three of you are cooling down.
