Slow progress & getting it in gear!!!

Finally getting my butt in gear and making some progress in the sewing room...

Made my binding yesterday...
When I make binding for a large quilt I wrap it onto a ruler as I make it to avoid all the tangling...
Then I slide it off the ruler and store as such till I am ready to use it...
While I was at it I made binding for another quilt I hope to finish soon too... Hollyhocks wall-quilt!!

Today I made the label for Mr & Mrs Rose's quilt (about time), AND finally attached it and the binding to the quilt. I worked on the binding at my Country Rose group tonight...
When I got home this evening I realized that I am far from ready to go to the quilt retreat this coming weekend, so set to doing that by FINALLY squared up my 25 Saturday Sampler blocks, and getting the rest of my fabrics together to make the top... which should have been put together by now, but that is why I call myself a "sluggish quilter"...
Here is some Show & Tell from this evenings gathering of the Country Rose ladies...
This is Gk"s place-mats (awaiting binding) to go with newly painted walls in her kitchen... Very cheery! 8-)
This is Jb's Christmas place-mats. Tonight she was working the binding...
You'll be all set for the festivities J! 8-)
This is Jb's table topper ready for quilting...
Great colors for Fall!
Pc was binding a big quilt that I've shown before here, and Cd was looking through magazines and entertaining us with conversation as she lost her project bags somewhere between home and the gathering...
Hey! It happens!! lol!

Cute! Click on link...

Dora, "Mom, Ruby won't come out to play."
Ruby, "You know why I don't want to come out!"
Dora, "Ruby come out to play!"
Ruby, "Nope! You just want to jump me!"

Dora, "Then I'm coming under there to get you!"

Dora has never ever crawled under that chair!!!
(yes there is dog hair on the floor! Pugs shed LOTS!)
8-)

Take care!
Myra

Nifty idea with the binding there Myra. I could take a leaf out your book on that one.

I wrap my binding around the cardboard tube from paper towels. I have also wrapped it around the roll of paper towels and pinned it if I did not have an available empty one.

Great quilts from your group - reminds me we need a name for our little group. Love the idea for the binding - keeps it wrinkle free as well! Blessings, Peg

Thanks for the tip on the binding. Have a great time at the retreat. Write a list of things to take and then check them off so you don't forget anything.

I'm not a sewer, nor am I crafty in the least! But when I clicked on your profile while blog hopping, I saw that you're from Winterpeg too, and I had to come by and say 'hello!' You are the first Winnipeg blogger I have come across!

I still have a red and white quilt on my rack with NO binding. Hate to do those...
