On the display wall and a surprize for me...

Picket Fences is back up on the display wall for me to continue figuring out how to best piece the boarder. I have a little section of it done on the right... I shall ponder this while I finish up some other things, and hopefully get to this next week...
Most times I have days were I don't see or hear from anybody. Yesterday I had 3 unplanned visitors, 2 of which called just before coming over... 8-)

DD2 came by and we had a late lunch together while she did a load of laundry that needed to be done for work ASAP! At her apartment this one load would take 5 hours to dry...? While we were eating my parents came to see all the
photos of their 50th on my comp and to email to a cousin in Holland...
In the evening DD1 just popped by for a little visit and to drop off a birthday gift...?... "A birthday gift!? For who?" I said. Well it turns out it was for me!!! I had forgotten about a promised gift from the kids... Forgetfulness is a big part of my life these days it seems... 8-(

Here was their card from my birthday 7-8 weeks back...
The little PS note at the bottom of the card...
And the gift itself! A windmill for the yard! It stands about 3 feet (94.44 cm)tall... 8-)
Thanks a bunch my darling children! 8-)
Now, where to put it...? hmmmm...?

This next photo is of a windmill my father made for my grandparents about 40 years ago... boy that sounds like a long time ago... It stood about 6 feet (182.88 cm) tall.
It was wonderful... Dad had put many hours/days into that creation... Too bad, without our knowledge, Grandma sold/gave it to a neighbor before she moved 25 years ago... Would have been nice to keep it in the family!!!!!!!!!!!! For sure!!!!!!!!!
We are just a tad bitter about that...
Today I am hoping to get the backing done (yes I know... still not done!) for the Sudoku quilt to pass over to Dp of our city group to quilt it, and then it will come back for me to bind and label it. To be donated to the retreat house by early October...

Tomorrow I "hope" to dive into the Hollyhocks piece... I hope!!! 8-)
Been so sluggish...

Have a great day all, and I may have some sew & tell for you tomorrow from our gathering tonight... 8-)

Your quilt is so beautiful and the windmill is so sweet. What pattern did you use for your picket fences?

Wow Myra thankyou so much for visiting my blog, I love the windmill pictures that you have shown us and I love the quilt that you are working on at the moment.
What material are you using to pin or stick the quilt onto that hangs?
Is it fleece? if so how does the temporary design stay onto this without falling off?

Can't wait to see the border of picket fences. A windmill -- how fun! Are you planning on putting some tulips by it next spring?

I love your windmill, pity about not still having the original. At least you have a photo. What a thoughtful gift.

Picket fences is a beauty - a soft pallet, but not in a pastal way. On another note, I like your new blog design. You've also changed your banner - I see the hollyhock piece, which turned out really well.
