PhD Binding & Laundry Days...

Seems I just get caught up with laundry, and it is time to do it again... Getting very uninterested in doing the laundry... Cheap disposable clothes would be nice for a change... LOL!!
That is what I was up to yesterday, and will continue again today... OH JOY!!!
Laundry and doing the binding on a PhD...
I got quite a bit of the binding done yesterday, so I am hopeful to get it all done up today so that I can post it as "DONE" on the PhD Blog later... Then it will be a mad dash to get the others done before the end of June... Nothing like leaving them till the end of the challenge!!! LOL! But that is how I do things! Always last minute, under pressure... 8-)

Our Easter Brunch set out on Sunday...
The family, minus me in photo,
and minus Mr & Mrs Farmer (Wisconsin)...
Little Momma to be, in back on right...
No one ever thinks to pick up my camera to take photos unless I ask them to, so it always looks like I wasn't there... 8-(

This is DH's friend Daryl's new toy.
He dropped by on Sunday to show it off...
We've been having lovely weather here! Temps in the double digits (C)... It is nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee... 8-)

Have a great week everyone!

A family wedding...

Yesterday we went to my cousin's wedding. They have a blended family now. It was a wonderful service, and the girls all did great walking down the aisle! My cousin and her groom look so happy, and its great that the girls all get along...
A family photo from the day...
A sad point in our family's mind though, is that my dear aunt, my cousin's mother, who we recently lost, could not witness this union in person, but we know she was there in spirit!

A happy event in the family was well received... 8-)

God bless your little family Cous!!!

PS: I just noticed that I am just about at my 500 post anniversary!!! Hmmmm....?

My Magazine and a new Cadillac in the family...

I can't believe it!!! We had a bit of snow today. Nothing to stay, but still, SNOW!!! Not ready for that by any means!!!

Myra's got mail!!!
I saw K's magazine from Quilter's Connection on her blog, and then looked through it a couple of weeks back at our quilt gathering. I was impressed with the patterns in there, thus I mailed in my subscription right away. So excited! 8-)
You can visit the magazine site here...

Now, here is the new and only Cadillac in the family!!! 8-)

This is what my dad called his scooter when he introduced me to it... "My Cadillac!" LOL!

Photos taken by my mom from their 3rd floor apartment balcony...
Now my parents can "walk" together to the store or just out and about for some fresh air... 8-)

I thank you all, my blogging friends, for your continued visits and comments even though I have not been up to doing so myself. Today I have started getting caught up on all of you. Lots to read, so it may take a while, but I'll get to your blog eventually... 8-)

Thanks for all your get well soon wishes... Feeling some better, but not 100% by any means... Hopefully I will be right as rain by the end of the month for the quilt retreat I will be hosting!!! 8-)

Take care all!
Happy stitchings!

25th Anniversary

Hello blogging friends!

It has been a long while again since I've posted, and read anyone's blogs.... I've been sick for most of the month... the first 2 weeks, and now again this past week, I am on meds for pneumonia now, and still feeling miserable, but some antsy at the moment, thus I sit doing this post right now...

I had to share with you my day yesterday. Our 3 adult children put on a surprize 25th anniversary party for DH and I... They did very well, with help from MrRose. I enjoyed myself very much, but would have enjoyed it even better if I was healthy. Had this event been for another, I would definitely have stayed home on the couch, but since it was put on in our honor, I had to be there, but I sat the majority of the time... and I did last till the end, though my mother offered to drive me home at any time.

Here are some shots from the day...

The entrance table... The flash cancels out our wedding photo I see...
The photo table. Old photos, Family photos, Wedding album, etc.
A very cool cake with a wedding and recent photo of us. All edible... I wonder how they do that? One of the kids wanted to eat my face... nice....
Myself sitting, MrRose, DD2, DS, DD1... and my dad at the far right...
Thanks Kids! You did a wonderful job of it! What a surprize! 8-)
Small speeches, or at least I thought they were to be, but DH ended up sitting me back at the table and did a 1/2 hour talk while moving in between all the tables... Acknowledged just about everyone and what they mean to us. 8-)
Family, friends, and neighbors...
Putting the first cut into the cake...
Our kids thought of everyone! A bar and food for the adults, a play table and kids food for the little ones... It was great!
No photo of the food served, but they had platters of Subway sandwiches (DD2 manages 4 Subway shops), and 5 different and yummy salads... Mmmmmm! And the cake for dessert of corse!

My wonderful SIL L put lots of time into making 3 Cds of music from over the years that we listened to in the background, which we were given at the end of the evening... Thanks L!!! 8-)
You know, even if people are told, "no gifts please, just your company is gift enough", they still bring gifts!!! How spoiled we are!!!

Here are some of the lovely gifts we had received... Thanks all!!! 8-)
And, I have to show you the 25 beautiful roses that came to the door for me on Tuesday from my DH... I tell you, not that I am not grateful, but that day 1 rose or a potted plant would have been enough. I felt like I was going to pass out that day, so doing the fresh flower cuts to 25 stems, and into "3" vases took a heck of a lot out of me... Lets just say it took about 10 minutes longer than it would normally take me... They are beautiful though!
Thanks Honey!!!
And now, I will go back to the couch, TV, Tea, and my meds...
and back to my doctor again for a follow up tomorrow...
It is slow going, but hopefully I will be back in action soon...

I hope everyone is having beautiful weather, and getting lots done! 8-)

God bless!

This and That...

Any puzzlers out there!?! This is a puzzle that DD1 gave to DD2 to keep her busy while she is home on sick leave for the week... It is a VERY hard puzzle, as the photo on the box is not the whole thing, maybe a 1/4 of whole, has lots of blue, and all the puzzle pieces are the same shape! We started it here last night with Mr.Rose (her BF). They will be coming to work on it again tonight, and then DD2 will come during the day tomorrow... I love puzzles!!!
My B-I-L was here when I came home from the day retreat on Sunday. DH made us supper and gave him a hair shaving. DH is getting good at it! 8-)

Ladies, pop on over the Marlene's blog for her tutorial/pattern for a darling little wall-quilt, and while you are there, have a look around. Marlene is a very talented quilter... 8-)

Have a visit on Zlaty's blog also, to see the wonderful little design wall she and her hubby put together. Complete with how it was made... 8-)

I know you are seeing a lot of my group's sew and tells, and not much produced by me... I've been having a bit of a mojo problem this summer, or just finding other things to do. I do have my hexagons that I bring to my quilt outings, and now will be bringing my round standing quilt frame to work on hand-quilting for a while, so there really hasn't been much from me to blog about and show, thus I haven't been posting everyday either... I also haven't been keeping up with all you wonderful ladies and your blogs... "my bad!" I think today I am all caught up with my reading and comments to you now, and will hopefully keep up because I do so enjoy keeping in touch with you all... 8-)

Happy stitchings!

A day at the Beach/Park...

We went to the BHPark/beach for a few hours this afternoon. About an hour shorter than what we had planned. Though both the fur-girls were behaving fairly well, they got excited every time someone walked by with their dog, Dora manage to break the snap on her collar and give chase at another dog. I haven't run that fast in years to go and grab her away from the lady with her dog in her arms. Dora's collar was beyond repair, thus it was time to go home!!! It was nice while it lasted... I think maybe next weekend we will go to the biggest beach that Manitoba has... without the fur-girls, and really relax...

Tomorrow is or city group's day retreat, so I best get my stuff packed and ready to go... I am sure I will have some lovely Sew & Tell items to share later in the day...

Happy stitchings!

On the display wall and a surprize for me...

Picket Fences is back up on the display wall for me to continue figuring out how to best piece the boarder. I have a little section of it done on the right... I shall ponder this while I finish up some other things, and hopefully get to this next week...
Most times I have days were I don't see or hear from anybody. Yesterday I had 3 unplanned visitors, 2 of which called just before coming over... 8-)

DD2 came by and we had a late lunch together while she did a load of laundry that needed to be done for work ASAP! At her apartment this one load would take 5 hours to dry...? While we were eating my parents came to see all the
photos of their 50th on my comp and to email to a cousin in Holland...
In the evening DD1 just popped by for a little visit and to drop off a birthday gift...?... "A birthday gift!? For who?" I said. Well it turns out it was for me!!! I had forgotten about a promised gift from the kids... Forgetfulness is a big part of my life these days it seems... 8-(

Here was their card from my birthday 7-8 weeks back...
The little PS note at the bottom of the card...
And the gift itself! A windmill for the yard! It stands about 3 feet (94.44 cm)tall... 8-)
Thanks a bunch my darling children! 8-)
Now, where to put it...? hmmmm...?

This next photo is of a windmill my father made for my grandparents about 40 years ago... boy that sounds like a long time ago... It stood about 6 feet (182.88 cm) tall.
It was wonderful... Dad had put many hours/days into that creation... Too bad, without our knowledge, Grandma sold/gave it to a neighbor before she moved 25 years ago... Would have been nice to keep it in the family!!!!!!!!!!!! For sure!!!!!!!!!
We are just a tad bitter about that...
Today I am hoping to get the backing done (yes I know... still not done!) for the Sudoku quilt to pass over to Dp of our city group to quilt it, and then it will come back for me to bind and label it. To be donated to the retreat house by early October...

Tomorrow I "hope" to dive into the Hollyhocks piece... I hope!!! 8-)
Been so sluggish...

Have a great day all, and I may have some sew & tell for you tomorrow from our gathering tonight... 8-)

Well, that's done!

The big "50" celebration is done, and life can get back to normal... thank goodness! 8-)
On Saturday it was my parent's actual anniversary day. We had a family day...
In this photo, after Mass, in private, my parents vowed their continued commitment to each other, and received a blessing...
After that we all came to our house for a BBQ. DH bbqing beef and chicken burgers... Mmmm......
Time to eat! 8-)
Raining outside, thus it was an indoor meal...
Wouldn't you know it, the only photo of me, and I was caught with my mouth full... Darn kids!
Mom and Dad cutting their cake for dessert...
The fur-girls were bombarded with attention... except while we were eating...
Sunday was the "big" celebration with extended family and friends...

This is it, our family here...
We took advantage of us all decked out to take a few family photos...

Our table at the feast... It was a lovely meal... Buffet style...
The kids table... They were sitting with my cousin and her hubby, but they stepped out for some "fresh air"... 8-)
DD2 and I had spent a few weeks scanning photos, and DD1 took them and made a wonderful slide-show presentation of them. It was a joy to watch! 8-)

All in all it was a great weekend....

Off to do the laundry now...
Happy stitchings! 8-)

On the night stand...sorta speak...

Been laying low... Spending time reading "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"... Getting geared up to see the new Harry Potter movie with DS next weekend. First we will do a Harry Potter marathon of all the movies thus far, and then head on over to see the new movie... I know! We are nuts! We've gone to every Harry Potter movie together. He is 21, why stop now!?! One more book to be made into a movie after that...?... Then what will we do!?! Hmmmm....? lol! 8-)

DH left Friday morning to go to a friend's for a weekend of fishing and and some home renovations... Saturday night, 11pm, DH scared the baggeebers out of me by coming home a day early. I guess well made plans are not always well made.

At any rate, he did end up meeting DD2 and her BF's family at a lake out that way to fish with them before he came home... This is DD2's latest catch! What a biggy hey!?!! I think DH said it was a 27-incher... Way to go Mamers!!! 8-)

Yesterday we finished up some more landscaping in the back yard, and kept up with watering the newly laid sod...

Sorry I haven't done much blog hopping/visiting lately. I found that I really need to take a break, so please be patient with me... 8-)

Have a good day everyone, and thanks for your visits! 8-)

She is definitely not squeamish...

We know DD2 isn't squeamish with her lizards, and here are this month's photos (off her camera) of her with more goodies...
Fishing with Mr Rose's family. His 9 year old brother likes to bash the fish with his fist over the head to kill them. Caught DD2 off guard when posing for a photo and the fish got bashed out of her hands... She had some of a mess from that all over herself, and she laughed!!!
Another one of her catches that day...

One of her catches on a day of fishing with her dad and Mr.Rose...
A fishing weekend at her friend's family cottage. A family fishing derby event... What is fishing without the token catfish catch!?!
This just baffles me... Where ever DD2 goes, she comes across turtles!!! This one is very colorful...
Once out walking as a family, she found a 3-inch snapper turtle on the road that was about 12 meters from the creek... She loves turtles!!! Her room is full of turtle things... A turtle light, a turtle pillow, ornaments, earrings, necklaces, etc...

Our DD1 is the squeamish one... She would rather be cooking! She is a wonderful cook! 8-)

DS is also one that enjoys fishing... But would much rather be partying...
---------------------------------
With all the rain we had the other day, I didn't have to water the sod, and today I woke to another downpour, thunder and lightening, AND hail again... So, we are good for another couple of days... 8-)

...and an now the sun is shining and the sky is blue with the odd cloud... 8-)

Sorry, no quilty stuff again... Missed both my quilting gatherings this week due to a family situation... Maybe next week I shall have some sew and tell from them...
