Retreat Photos...

As mentioned a couple posts back, we were doing an "I Spy" exchange at this retreat. Six of us taking part, and agreed we should have a due date as to when the quilt tops were due to be shown, but for some reason a date was not agreed on...yet!
I'm recalling that they should be done by the end of this year.
"I Spy" pattern is up to the individual.

These blocks were done by friend LS. Toonie-Tuesday packages she collected from a local quilt shop a while back... She/we are quite proud of her success with her points, to the point she is saying, that maybe she is ready for a Bonnie Hunter Mystery.
I said, that if she does, I will join her. Been wanting to do a Bonnie Hunter
for a while now, but I just haven't jumped in yet.

DW brought a quilt to show us that her sister had made while wintering down south.
Lovely! I believe is was all Batiks.

A few posts back I showed you a new book that I purchased with this pattern in it. I never should have brought the book to share with my gals "yet", as now I wasn't the first of my group to do this pattern. The "Disappearing Churn-dash". DL, who is very quick at whipping up a quilt-top, decided fabrics she brought to the retreat would work great with this pattern, so proceeded to whip up the blocks... Love the print background.

So now, my accomplishments from the weekend...

A pillowcase for our GS#4.
 A Quilt-as-you-go quilt (like YN's done here) for GD#1.
All it needs now is a few Yo-Yos, and the binding...

Much needed receiving blankets for our grand-daughter. It is ok to have her wrapped in the boy's blankets at home, but not when out visiting or in public!!  ;)

I sewed some more 25-patch blocks, pieced some rows, and combined them, just to see how it was going to look. Much more to be done to finish this quilt top up...
Pattern - Quick Quilts - March 2010 - Raspberry Cheesecake, I posted about it here too...
And now, a photo of DGS#1, with his very first catch, on his very first "gone fishing with Daddy" trip. A very small catfish in his hand.
"It was really wiggly Grammy, and then a put it back in the water."

Wonky Bits on Thursday. I may have some more show and tell photos from that gathering...

Happy Stitching!

Retreat Time Again!

We are at our five-day May retreat having a great time! I can't seem to figure out how to access my photos on my iPod, so that will have to wait till I'm home to do in my desktop comp.

Wonderful weather here! Hope you are enjoying some in your patch of the world!

A Shop Day + G-Babes

Bought a few FQ for an I Spy Charm exchange.
Had to stop in at a 10,000 Villages Shop.
Love my new bracelet!
I envy our NFLD friend's backyard view...
Photo taken 2 weeks ago.
All five of our grand-babies. Hopefully we will have them all
in one photo, together, very soon.

Hope you are enjoying your May long-weekend!

Myra's Quilt Hideaway...

Back in September we bought a small trailer, 12'x42', and in October
we had it moved onto some property we have out in the country.
You see, I need a "hideaway" to have a break from my normal
everyday life at times. So this will be just perfect.
I haven't moved any of my belongings into it yet, as we just had
a well drilled, and waiting on septic and electricity. Also waiting for
a bit of a deck and decent stairs so I don't break my neck.
It isn't a big trailer, but just big enough for me. One bedroom to sleep in,
and one to set up for a sewing room away from home.
What more does on need?
I am soooo looking forward to staying here, and hoping that
it will be warm enough to stay in during the winter months also.
A year round cottage if you will...

Do you have a small home away from home?

Happy stitching!

Retreat Dissappointment...

Though I was glad to be there, I was sick during the whole retreat (I was not the only one), and slept a good part of the "production" time. I didn't even unpack my sewing machine, and the one photo I have to show you wasn't even taken by me, as I took no photos at all.

The upper quilt top was made by friend D,
and the lower one made by friend L.
And here is an updated photo of our grand-daughter
who will be 3 weeks old on Thursday...
I am still not completely back to health, as I am still battling
a really bad cold that I haven't been able to shake.
If it's not one thing, it's another...

Birthday Boy!

Happy Birthday to our 2 year old GS#4!
Looking cool there kiddo!!
He is having a hard time adjusting to having his baby sister take
over his Mommy's lap. Poor little guy... Needs lots of hugs and snuggles.

And here, dressed in their Easter best, in the shed, and sitting on the tractor, is
our twins. GS#2 and GS#3.Next week they will be 3 years old already!!! Time flies!
Isn't this how you are supposed to look when you do your farming?? Haha!

Sick this week so not out helping my daughter this week.
I recall when we had our third child, it was quite an adjustment, for all of us...

Happy stitching!!

Making Progress on Sewingroom

Thanks for all the suggestions on my last post!
I've taken your advice and been doing half-hour stints a couple times a day,
so am making slow progress, but progress non the less.

I can see my cutting board again!!! It had been a long while for sure since
I've been able to do any cutting there. I sorted all of my scraps into color bins,
and here I am sorting/cutting strip widths and squares.
Feels good to go through all my scraps!

Today I spent time going through my magazines. Mags between 2000 and now got shelved, and those before 2000 got glanced through, and keepers ripped out, and the rest tossed.
Later I will put the keepers into page protectors, and then sort into binders.

Slow and steady....

Overwhelmed... What else is new?

Well, DH is gone for a week of golfing with his buddies,
what better time to sort and clean up my sewing/computer room...
Only problem is, I stand in the doorway and think,
"where do I even start?", and then I have that overwhelmed feeling.
That of course is bad, cause then I turn around and hide from it.
But, it needs doing badly, because it is keeping me from doing
anything productive in my quilt-making, and there is much to complete.
I can't even share a photo of my room cause it is so embarrassing.

Wish me luck!

A Trip to Kickass Quilt Shop

I wasn't going to buy anything much, but you know how that goes!!
Bought some sale fabrics, went for lunch, back to shop cause one of our gals had yet to pay for her chosen items, and of course I started looking around, and found this book.
Do I need any more quilt books? NO! It had 3 patterns in it that really caught my eye, so of course I had to buy it!! Pictures aren't that great. Taken with my iPod, since I broke my camera about 8 months ago. Anyway, here are the 3 that caught my eye.
And if any of my gals are checking, no, I did not get a post up last week, for my once a week promise. We had an eventful, as well as a rough week last week, for we had a sad and upsetting tragedy happen in my extended family, and my thoughts were consumed with that. I just remembered today about needing to post on the blog. Am I forgiven Ladies of my quilting circle?

Here are the fabrics I bought. Some Christmas prints.
Plus a few others...
Our twins were up from Wisconsin for a visit.
And Hubby bought a 2010 Honda Civic. Better on fuel than our gas guzzling trucks!
Time to get some sewing done, now that life has calmed down again and things are falling into place...

Happy Stitching!

Quilt Group Shares...

From our most recent retreat this past weekend.

This is 2 of Ly's blocks for a pattern called "Options" from Maple Island Quilts.
Here is her quilt top put together.
The blue painters tape bits on the left are her row orders.
This is Di's efforts on the same pattern.
The colors sure play differently.
These photos below are from my Wonky Bits Group.

All three are the efforts of Pa's hands.
She puts out quilts like no body's business!
Her hands are always extremely busy...
And sadly, I have nothing to show for myself in the way of quilting.
Been doing a lot of knitting and crochet.

Stay warm to those of you in cold climates right now,
stay cool to those in the hot ones, and I envy the
people that are where it is just right.

Happy Stitching!

A Shrek Baby Look-a-Like

Grandson #4 - photo taken when he was about 3-4 months old.
Heading out to another retreat tomorrow.
Even though our retreats are longer than a "weekend retreat",
I still wish that they lasted longer than they do!
Time flies by so darn fast when having fun with the gals...

Happy stitching!

My Crochet and Knitting

Just waiting for the grandsons to come for me to babysit tonight, and thought what can I do while I wait now, cause everything is tidy and ready for them... AH! Do a blog posting...

This is a crocheted shawl I am making for myself. I have a few more rows to
do to finish the decorative edge. Made of a Cotton yarn...
This is a knitted shawl I am making for myself again. I always envy the beautiful woolen yarns my friends use, cause I like the look of it, but can't use it because I'm allergic to it. Found this acrylic yarn the kind of looks wooly, so thought to try it. Just another 10 rows and I'll be done!
Had a nice thick dusting of snow this morning. Everything looked so clean and fresh, but it is cold.

Have a great weekend everyone!
