2010's PhD Callenge Participants

Last PhD Challenge post for 2010...
I have a bit of time today, so I finally have my post with the list/links to the wonderful gals that took an active part in my "2010 PhD Challenge" here. Perhaps you'd like to visit them...
They are Becky, Brenda G, Brenda P, Brenda S, Dianne, Edna, Em, Gina, Jill, Joanne, Katy, Lisa, Michelle, Narelle, Phyllis, Katherine, Marlene, Thearica, and Zlaty... I hope I didn't confuse your links...
Together we completed "70 Projects Half Done" that were sitting on our back-burners or forgotten!!! Way to go ladies!!! 8-)
You can see who the winners of my end of Challenge Giveaway were at the bottom of this post here... (click link)
My initial reason for the challenge was to get 5 of my PhDs off my back, but was interrupted with my 2 daughters' engagements and weddings (still in progress) and all that comes with it for this year...
I will be hosting another PhD Challenge starting January 2011, cause I still have to get mine done!!! Will you join me then? 8-)
Myra
PS: I've added Google Translate to my right sidebar.
Could those that use it let me know if it works well?

My day yesterday, and PhD Giveaway....

To all my fellow Canadians...
143 years young!!! 8-)
I hope you all had a wonderful day!!!

Yup! The big "five O" yesterday! All day long... lol! 8-)
Do I feel any different? Oh ya!!!! .... NOT!
Life goes on in the craziness that 2010 has brought to our family... 8-)
My cousin B came by in the morning yesterday with this wonderful basket of bath-time goodies... plus chocolate!!!
Then she took me out for lunch to Cora's Restaurant.
This was her plate...
... and this was my plate! Yum!!
Aren't they just so wonderfully colorful!?! 8-)We ate outside in the courtyard...
Thanks for the visit and goodies B!!! 8-)

In the evening I brought a b-day cake to share with my Crescentwood Quilt Group, which is what the birthday girl does, and is gifted with fat-quarters in the colors/prints of her choice.
These are my goodies! Thanks ladies!! 8-)
I hadn't seen my quilting friends, in any of my 3 groups, for about 4 weeks, so it was nice to see some last night! We even had 1 sew and tell.

This is Sw's baby quilt she made. She is still considered one of our newbie quilters, at 75!! Good job Sw! 8-)
I then picked up and moved, a van full of boxes with DD1, from her apartment to our basement. She is slowly moving the majority of her belongings here, waiting to move down to the farm (hopefully before Christmas!) after her wedding in August ... Giving more space for DD2 to make the apartment a home for her and MrRose in the time before their September wedding.... Things are starting to heat up between the siblings... if you know what I mean?! 8-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'd like to thank all of you lovely ladies for taking part in my challenge. Including myself, there were 21 of us.
If you click on their names in the right sidebar PhD list, you will see their PhD update posts some put up...
The number of PhDs completed is 70!!!
You've all done well, and can give yourselves a big pat on the back!!! 8-)
High time for...
June 30th, 2010!!!
We made it!!! The Challenge is done! 8-)
The time has gone by way to fast for me with everything that is going on around here!!! As you recall, I had to bow out of my own challenge due to my dear darling daughters throwing 2 engagements/weddings into the year just a week "AFTER" I put the challenge out there.... 8-/
I am glad I got ONE quilt done though!!! 8-)
Any participants have a PhD finish to report yet?
Check my right hand sidebar of my blog to make sure I have the correct "finished" numbers for you.
A giveaway draw for the PhD participants will take place tomorrow evening around 7pm my time...
Putting up a post today with your PhD finishes (photos) in it will have something to do with the giveaway...
I will be looking at your blogs tonight... 8-)
Prizes will be fabric and a pattern...
Possibly 2 prize draws too yet! 8-)
Sorry I wasn't as attentive as I had hoped to be during these past 6 months... Daughters' weddings!!! lol! 8-)
A busy day for me today, so I will check in (emails & blogs) later tonight! 8-)
Thanks for participating ladies!
Inspiration & PhD 7 Day Count Down...
How is this quilt for inspiration!?!
Machine embroidery (something I've never tried) and applique... Click on the image for a closer look! 8-)
This is a gorgeous quilt that was hanging in the shop I visited in Kelowna.
"Linda's Quilt Shoppe"
Not much to see on their website, but if you are ever in Kelowna, I would definitely recommend visiting this shop... Credit card in hand... An easy 2 to 3 hour visit!!! 8-)
They have many a yummy fabric bolts to look through, and have a big classroom setting, through a hallway in the back...
Lots of wonderful quilts hanging everywhere!!! 8-)
Tomorrow, if time allows, I shall post the quilt to the left of this one on the photo...
Another awe inspiring creation!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tis the start of the PhD, "7-days left", count down to the challenge finally date of June 30th!!!
For those participating in the challenge, I mentioned in this post, that I'd be having a giveaway for the participants of this challenge listed in my sidebar. More on that next Monday...

Participants; Would it be too much to ask each of you to do a post, to pop up on June 30th, featuring a photo of each of your PhD Challenge finishes? No need for a big write up... I will then link to each of them in my July 1st post for other bloggers to visit and "wow" at your wonderful finishes...

I had hope to finish at least 1 more PhD myself, but alas, it was not meant to be... Up to my earlobes in Socials, Showers, Weddings, life, family, and 2 queen size wedding quilts...
2011 can't come soon enough!!! lol! 8-)

Happy stitchings!

PhD Challenge is almost over...

A very early "good morning" to you, from Me...
(not at all a morning person)
As you read this I am still in my slumberland bliss...
Thank goodness for the scheduled post option!!! lol! 8-)

Tomorrow is June 1st in my part of the world, in others it is already that date. This means there is only 30 days before the end of the "PhD Quilts 6 Month Challenge". It also means it is time to squeeze in those last couple of "Projects Half Done" to reach your goals for this challenge...

You can do it! I know you can!
Go Quilters Go! Go Quilters Go! lol! 8-)

For all you wonderful gals that have participated in my challenge (listed on my right sidebar), I will host a giveaway, just for you on July 1st. More info for that to follow closer to June 30th...

Happy stitchings to you!

One of my PhDs...

Well, I took my first step to finishing this "Sunflower Quilt" by calling my friend's shop to book the use of her frame and machine to finish this puppy!
I booked this Friday the 15th, thinking that it was next week...
Duh!!! That is THIS Friday!!!
That will never do, cause fur-girl Ruby's stint at the vets is on Thursday, and IF she ends up having surgery, I should be home with her on Friday...
So, back on the phone to rebook, and now I will be heading to the shop next week Friday the 22nd with my Sunflowers...
It will be a first time on a quilting frame/machine situation...
Should be fun... I hope! lol! 8-)
The quilt is 67"x75"... 8" finished blocks.
I wonder if I prepared some binding for this already...?
Will have to go have a dig... 8-)

Now to decide which other PhD to work on till then...
Hmmmmm...?

Happy stitchings friends!

My 5 PhDs waiting for my attention...

Clicking on the photo enlarges it...

My fur-girl baby Ruby (2) is going for a Vet visit tomorrow morning. She has had this "thing" growing on her lip since just before Christmas. It was just a flat flesh colored spot for quit a while, but has been growing fast into a large bump... This last week it seems that every day it looks some bigger... 8-(
Time will tell what it is...

OK! Time to get off this darn computer! I swear no PhDs will get done if I stay here... LOL! I will probably not be visiting all my regular blog friends as often as I usually do. I am going to try and visit those that have recently commented here, plus 3 others a day... Sounds doable... Hope you all understand!

Remember, I am a sluggish quilter after all... 8-)
Happy stitchings!

PhD Challenge... Care to play along?

Projects Half Done

I have so many PhDs that need to make it to the finish line this year! 2010, it has to happen! I thought I would challenge myself to a 6 month stint ending on June 30th, with you all as my witnesses, and thought some of you may want to play along with me.
I would love to have company!!! 8-)

I listed my PhDs in my right hand sidebar, in no particular order, that I wish to get done. As I finish them I will link viewers to the finished project's post.

If you care to join me in this challenge let me know. I will add you and the number of PhDs you are committing to in my sidebar... I will link viewers to your blogs from there for others to see your progress, cheer you on, and can oooo and ahhhh over your finishes.
Please make your PhD commitment list in your sidebar also... 8-)

When you finish a PhD I will mark it as "done" beside your name on my sidebar to keep track as to how many PhDs we all can get to the finish line in 6 months! 8-)

Feel free to use the "Phd Challenge" button to link back to my blog, preferably this post, for others to join in the fun...

Keeping my fingers crossed to have company...

My PhD Commitment...
Wish me luck... I need it! lol! 8-)
