We didn't need this...

I had a trying day today. DH and DS went with my DBrother and his friend on a 1 day canoe trip and fishing. Left at 5:45am Tuesday, and were to be home Tuesday night. At midnight they were not home but I wasn't worried as he has come home quite late on one of these occasions before.... I was up at 6am for "natures call" (which I would normally go to bed again), but I noticed my hubby didn't grab a towel to shower, as he normally does when home from such a day in the sun... Checked his bed, not slept in. (Yes we sleep in different rooms, what of it!?! lol!), and no sign of him having been there. He was to start a day shift at 7:00 this morning too yet... Hmmmm....

Emailed to Sis-I-L to call me if she was up. Couldn't wait for her call, so by 6:45am I was on the phone with authorities, after a few wrong calls, a call to hubbies work, and finally the RCMP. I gave the story, the vehicle info, physical descriptions, dates of birth, their experience in the wilderness, and was told they would first check to see if the vehicle was still at the boat launch site.... by 8:30am I was called and told that "the vehicle was still there and that they would get out onto the water to do a search, and I may not hear from them for 3 to 5 hours due to no cell service out there." which I knew already having tried each of them several times....

SIL came over around noon for us to worry together, and by 2:45pm I finally heard back from the RCMP that they were OK, but held back because of a 1.5 foot water level increase over the day, which made a pass through a tunnel dangerous because of the strong current . The boys spent the night unprepared and I could just imagine the bug bites... The authorities helped bring the canoes and gear up and over the 100 ft incline and drop, and towed them back through a second tunnel, and then the boys found their own way back to the boat launch and home...

When the boys got home, they said thank God you called the RCMP, and that the RCMP told them that they had seriously thought they would need 4 body bags for this situation... Whew!

Thank God our boys are home, safe and sound in their beds now... What a day! I didn't need this with everything else going on lately...

...And because every post needs a photo, here is a photo of my fur-girls basking in the sun yesterday afternoon without a care in the world... Oh to be a dog!! 8-)
Tomorrow is another challenge... My dad and the nero surgeon appointment, and then a sleep deprived test of some sort at the hospital on Friday... When it rains it pours!!!

Have a blessed sleep people!
G'Night!

Oh my gosh! You must have been frantic! I was feeling pretty scared just reading your story and I already knew that all was well (or you would not have blogged). Thank God the boys did not risk the tunnel! I hope that they are all doing well and did not suffer the elements and mosquitoes too much.

I'll say a prayer for your dad today, that his appointment goes well. Is he going to a sleep clinic for an overnight sleep evaluation on Friday? I've been for one of those - slept like a baby!! They still don't know why I'm so tired some days.

Hugs to all of you!

Oh Myra - I can only imagine the stress and worry! I'm so glad they were found and returned home safely and that they are not too much the worse for wear. I know those bugs our there and to not be prepared for a camp out would be very trying. Give him an extra fluffy pillow for "his" bed . . . just to let him know he was missed. - Marlene

Myra, that goodness you called the RCMP! Glad to hear they have arrived home, safe and sound. I'll bet that can account for a few new gray hairs! lol

Oh my how horrible for you to wait and fear for the worst and awful for them experiencing it too. So glad all were ok. You are a very lucky family.

oh Myra!!! I read this post scared! Not funny. Not funny when it comes to water and boats and just not knowing...... I was very glad to get to the end and it was all good - but it could have been so different. It is good that you know your hubby well enough to know his habits and that things just were not right. HUGE HUGS for you. I can not imagine the thoughts you had - actually, I can, I am just so thankful that they were unfounded. Wow. what a story - from both sides!!!

Thank heavens everyone was okay! There seem to be so many water accidents in the summer. Hope you're all doing okay. Just breathe, eh!

What a relief! Did you remind them they are all "grounded" until after the weddings?

Glad you did all the right things GF, you should be very proud of yourself!
