What's wrong with this picture?

Very big sigh...

Guess what I forgot to add to the Bran Muffin batter? Baking Soda!!! Duh!!! And then they wonder why I don't bake anymore!!! I hope the second batch, that I added some baking soda to, doesn't have that baking soda taste!!! That will spoil the effort I put into baking this morning...

I used to bake a lot when I was younger. At least 3 times a week. The children loved to "bake" with Mommy... My baking started dwindling about 6-7 years back.

Cooking used to be done everyday! That has also sadly been dwindling the last 2 years... I hate doing both now. Nothing seems to taste good to me that I have prepare either, though the family certainly enjoys whatever I make... when I "get to it"... 8-/

Do any of you have the same situation?

Sometimes I don't want to eat what I cook, especially if it takes a lot of effort...I don't want to look at it anymore. As for baking I enjoy it a lot but how often I bake varies.

Hope the muffins are okay!

Have a good time at the Carberry Retreat this weekend Myra and take lots of pics!

I can relate. I ways like someone else's cooking better than mine. I keep telling my husband that he is a great cook (which he is). I hate cooking. Prefer to stitch or do something else.

Definitly!! We moved into this house, oh 5 yrs ago now, and I basically stopped cooking when that happened. This kitchen is for people who order food in (which happens now too!!) but it's not set up for cooking/baking in. And it was something I used to enjoy. I also changed my eating habits and my family didn't follow suite, so things they want/do eat, I won't. That makes it hard too!! But, it's okay. My kids are now trying their hand at cooking, and we all benefit from that. They get to learn (at my expense!! lol) and we get to try new foods/things.
But, I wounder if this lack of wanting to cook has to do with doing it all the time for so many years that now, we just don't wanna anymore!! I know some days I really want to get back into the kitchen, but others, I am so glad I have made meals to wait for use in the freezer!! Then meal time is just picking out something and making it ready to eat. Hmmm, but it you think about that, I do still cook then don't I??? I just do alot of cooking on one day, to use on others.......
Your muffins look good by the way, even if they are a little flat! I love muffins!! So, enjoy them. And your post question (title) "What's wrong with this picture" made me want to say "that they aren't in my house!!"

Same here Myra.
I hate cooking...Don't know where my son Joe-da-Chef gets his love of cooking from...
If I lived alone, I wouldn't cook!

I hate cooking. It seems like so much effort for something that, 9 times out of 10, I won't even want to eat! And it makes a mess. All that time that could be spent playing with fabric!! I really wish someone would invent a pill that had all the nutrients one needs. Pop that and carry on.
That said, I love baking -- absolutely love it. Don't do much of it anymore though except at Christmas.

Same here Myra. I used to bake all the time, but now it's just family birthday cakes and a little bit at Christmas. I find food tastes so much better when it's been prepared by someone else.

I feel the same way as you Myra. I have a large collection of cookbooks because I used to cook everyday when there were 4 of us. Now it just seems a waste and am so tired of cooking, I just don't want to do it anymore. I used to love to do it and now I am just burned out. I find also that if you really don't want to do something it usually just doesn't turn out very well. I am not even going to make a homemade dessert for the fish fry today. Last week it took half the day. Me bad.

I keep telling you the things you are going through are pretty "normal". Maybe it's natures way of making sure if the kids haven't flown the nest by now, they should at least be taking care of themselves. Who knows?
Anyway, have a great retreat!
