Vet visit... what a fiasco!

Good thing DH is on days off this week! He came with us to the vets this afternoon...

We were smart this time. We put the fur-girl's kennels in the van, and put them in the kennels. Last time I drove with the girls loose in the van and I had to slam on the breaks and pull to the side of the highway to break up a fight... No problems with the ride this time! We'll be using the kennels from now on... 8-)

Talk about a major mix of stress and excitement from the fur-girls! Major stress in the checkup room with the vet and vet-tech.

Ruby was like the Tasmanian Devil from the Bugs Bunny Show, and at times she crawled up me, on to my shoulders like a cat!! Our vet took her time checking out Ruby's knees, hips, and spine. She said that Ruby's left back knee is very "loose" which is the leg I had worries about... She said her hips don't feel bad, though we will have to keep an I on them... At times it took 2 of us to hold her for her shots, nails, and such. I am full of scratches... and even some blood (not mine) on my clothes due to a clipped quick. There were even splatters on the walls because of her thrashing!!

On Thursday I will drop Ruby off for X-rays before going to Wonky Bits, and then pick her up afterwards. Ms Vet said that Ruby is small enough that they shouldn't have to take more than one X-ray. So I will know more on Thursday night of how bad the problem is...

Dora's behavior at the vets is generally very good, except for the fact that she shakes uncontrollably untill she gets off the counter and gets her treat. Sheds all over the place just from the stress too! 8-)

Well I am glad that yearly appointment for the 2 of them is over!

No sewing done today... too tired to concentrate as I had a very sleepless night... I have those every 2-3 weeks... Hopefully I will get some sewing done tomorrow...

Tutorial is still being prepared for you...

I hope the leg problem will get sorted and just a strain I know what a worry it can sometimes be when your little loved furry ones got something wrong. Im amazed you still have snow but it's melting away isnt it.

Yes, kennels are the way to go when driving with dogs!! Cat's too for that matter!! I have never had that much excitment over a vet vistit!! Wow!! I am glad that the appointment is over for the year too!! And hopefully the X-ray one will not show anything bad.

You make sure you take it easy tonight and rest. Don't worry about the lesson you said you were doing. We can wait for it. You make sure you and the fur-babies are rested and calm - and that you have had some sewing time.
I sewed today, and my daughter comes in and is looking at one of my blks and I ask her what she thinks? I have spent the day sewing my boxed stars with the sashing and I am about to start on the border.... She see's a blk that I have sewn wrong!!! Then she finds another one!!! So, tomorrow, I know what I am doing. Frog sewing, then repairing so, I know I have time to wait for a lesson!!

Take Care!! And see you tomorrow!!!

Whoa! what a day! My dog has a muzzle put on while at the vet because he gets snappy, but then trembles on the floor under the chair in the examination room.

Hoping Ruby's problem isn't too serious...and get a good sleep tonight!!!

Oh dear Myra, your vet story brought back memories of taking our cats to the vet! What an ordeal that used to be! One time I dropped off one of the cats in the morning on my way to work to be spayed, and I got a call about an hour later asking me to come pick her up. She gave the doctor a nice bite in the fleshy area between the thumb and index finger and they had to cancel all the appointments for the day and take the doctor to the emergency room! Oh boy! When I picked her up, they gave me a little Valium pill to administer to her before we brought her back again! Bad kitty!

My Daisy dog used to tremble terribly and leave nice little packages all over the vet's floor when I would bring her in. Such trauma! Then she would sleep all day once we got back home!

Hope all goes well with Ruby. Going to the groomers and vet is always a little stressed for my doggie. You would think he would be used to it by now, as he is 15 years old and has gotten groomed every 6 wks of his life. He still shakes. Hope you get some sleep.

Oh dear, I'll keep my fingers crossed for Ruby. I don't know if you ever said the age of the furgirls; curious to know.

It's so stressful going to the vets. I took my oldest cat today as she hadn't been eating and they put her on a drip and kept her in. Goodness knows what it will cost. Wish there was an NHS for pets! As long as she's OK though that's the main thing.

Hope Ruby's X Ray results are good. They're such a worry aren't they.
