Retreat Photos

Grab a cup of java, sit, and relax... 8-)
I have photos of some very talented women's work from the retreat!
Some completed projects, blocks, WIPs, random, and some with a bit of info...
Click on the photos for a closer look... hopefully anyway!
A gal that loved my Persian Star I worked on there last year, made her own this year...
The table set for Saturday night dinner...
Drunkards Path... The photo I took with the final boarder and some applique on it was major blurry!!! 8-(
Friend Dw's WIP. Sunglasses needed! 8-)
Friend Dp's work! A true quilter's quilt! Love it! Still needing boarders.
One of my favorite blocks...
Hand applique... a few gals were busy doing that all weekend...
The Herky Jerky method was used around these leaves, and thread play for the ribbon effect... Lovely leafy quilting too...
Love this block! 8-)
Friend Jr was busy making lizard appliques for this quilt top... I hope she brings it for Sew & Tell on Wednesday night! 8-)
This gal showed a no template way of doing this applique. Must try sometime...
These next 2 are done by a fairly new quilter... A young mom of 2...
This vest is just darling... Prairie Points and all! See inset photo...
The only photo of me all weekend, and smarty-pants gets goofy with my camera!
Mile-a-Minute in progress!
Thoughts of Christmas already...
A Nancy Halvorsen (Art to Hear) panel...
Paper pieced star that I don't recall the name of at the moment... 8-(
Baby Penquins and a Peek-a-Boo top from a Fons and Porter mag...
This is the vendor table that is set up all weekend at this retreat, as the vendor is there to sew all weekend herself! She is wonderful for bringing items that a lot of people may forget to bring along... A life saver! 8-)
This quilt was hanging in the workshop room at the retreat. It belongs to the Ranch. Someone donated it, and each horse at this ranch is represented... 8-)
A grandmother was busy machine quilting this for her trip to visit the family next weekend. It is a "big boy quilt" for a 2 year old that must give up his crib for the new babe that is to come in 3 months... I think he will be a happy boy with it, as he watches all the big trucks from his living-room windows all the time apparently! 8-)
Simply said, this is an awesome WIP!
Rubber drawer/shelf liners... An alternative idea to working with the quilting gloves on...apparently it works really well! 8-)
A beautiful morning on Sunday with frost on the trees...
So far this has been a 3 year project... She needs to find 5 more character ties at thrift shops to get this dresden piece done...
Row Robin quilts...
This is the result of a class that was taken at the retreat... I forget that this form of applique is... I did not manage to get a good photo of all of them... 8-(
The Envelope Bag demo...
One gal made all 3 of these small wall-quilts from kits she had bought...
This is a BOM that one group is doing in their part of Manitoba...
Stack & Wacks...?... or is it Stack & Whacks? 8-)
The rest of the photos are blurry. I was having a really "off" day with the camera yesterday... I had to delete quite a few... not happy about that! 8-(
That be it for this year's March 2009 Retreat at the Circle Square Ranch in our part of the world! 8-)

Now to go and sort things in my sewing room... DH did managed to get my 2 new work surfaces put up last night... It will do for now, at least it is indeed functional, but he will be looking for some nice wooden legs to put in place of the eye-sore temps...8-)
My cutting counter is about 3 inches taller than my last one. I hope it is not too high!

Your comment about the talent was spot on! It's interesting to see the pieces people worked on - such a variety. I think I speak for all of us in The Land of Quilt Blogging, "wish I could have been there". [Sigh]

I poured myself a big early morning cuppa and boy did I have fun here! I felt like I was one of the group and could hear the machines humming, the laughs, howls and cackling of all of you having fun! These are true quilter's quilts. The down to earth, big, huge variety of techniques and talents that makes true quilting and real people so much fun. One of the best experiences I've had all week! Thanks for 'inviting' me and now for another cup of coffee and maybe a little more fun ;)
