Frugal Stitchin'... and Yuck!

Found some suitable backing (that will end up as the lining) for my envelop bag top that I made at last weekend's retreat.

Stitched together 3 pieces of batting using stitch #4 on my Pfaff, at the widest setting, and a mid lenght setting... Butted up the freshly cut straight sides, and vwalla! A piece of batting big enough to sandwich (spray baste).

I plan to practice my meander quilting on it just to refresh myself more in prep to quilt more of my Sunflower quilt. (Had problems with it yesterday)...

A few if you had asked if we still have snow. You will see the dirty snow, muck, and small puddles in my photos. On the streets and public sidewalks there are major puddles!!! You have to slow your car right down to go through some of them, and it is gross to walk the fur-girls around them. Can't wait for it to all dry up... but then, there is talk of flooding this Spring, as soon as in 1 to 2 weeks!!! We won't be affected by the flood personally, but it will affect many!

From our front window...
From our back window...
Off our deck...mucky at the back gate! Yuck!Tomorrow I am planning to post a tutorial on how to make the Picket Fence block that I used in this WIP.

Hi Myra! Spring is coming! Our snow is all gone, but the yard is still very soft and squishy.

I love the fabrics you used in that square of 36. So cheerful and fun. And I checked out the Picket Fence quilt....wow is that an eye full! I love the colors in it and the design is fabulous!

all this rain isn't going to help the muck either... I'm thankful the "wet" season is so very short here generally, and its nice it isn't -40 still.... soon enough I'll mind the heat and bugs, but the mud is definately mucky right now! Can only imagine the mess those fur girls of yours get into...

Ahhhh, proof spring will come!! I saw snow at the school yesterday when my friend and I took our dogs for a play date!! They make a path between the schools (high school and elementray share a field) and this path was clear of snow and you could see the dead grass!! What a nice sight!! Then today, we woke up to snow falling all day and cold!! lol!! I am so glad I am patient, but I love spring and it's not coming soon enough!
And I will be looking forward to learning about the picket fence!!! Thanks Myra!!!

I'm hoping the rain will get rid of the rest of the snow and clean things up a bit. Our yard is a mess and it's HUGE.
We had thought of going to Minneapolis during spring break with teacher friends but it looks like we may not be able to get through Fargo with the flooding. We are in no danger at all here either.

The Phaffy is a nice little girl when it comes to things like that - I don't do it often, but with the recession? maybe we will have to! Looking forward to the tutorila!

Sorry to hear that spring hasn't come your way yet. And flooding isn't the kind of thing you want to happen either!
How's Ruby btw?

Looked at your picket fence quilt and it is stunning! I am sure there will be a lot of people making that one when you get the tutorial up. Hope you get dried out soon.

Loved seeing your sewing project and sorry for the snow still. I like the Friendship Flowers BOM and Country Cups on the sidebar. Just curious about the Friendship Flower BOM pattern.....is it from a book or pattern?
