Teacup of a different sort...

In keeping with yesterday's post of Teacup Dolly...
This is a crocheted teacup my Tante (aunt) Tini made many years ago. A bit yellowed with age, but still a pretty keepsake for me...

Tante Tini also crocheted many of my Christmas tree ornaments, and left me with many fond memories of her...

What keepsakes do you have?

That is absolutely beautiful!!! Sad to say, I don't really have any keepsakes. I do have one huge afghan crocheted by my mother that I will give to my daughter when she moves into her next place as the colors are suited to what she likes. Other than that, our family situation was such that others (who don't even appreciate hand-crafted items) made off with things I'd have treasured. One was a 12-cup set of teacups and saucers hand painted (each with a different flower) by a great-grandmother. I really wanted that and have no idea who took it and what they did with it. Oh, well...such is life, but I"m glad you have some nice reminders of you aunt!

I remember the teacup doilies of old. The pink one you show is beautiful. I don't know what their purpose is other than to look pretty. I crocheted a huge doily years ago and then switched to afghans. I never went back to making doilies but this surely intrigues me.

I don't have alot of my own keepsakes, but I have made alot of ornaments for my girls - then realized a few years ago, I had better make some for myself, or when they leave, my tree will be empty!!!
In my ornament quest, the only rule was - I had to make it, and it had to be differnt from any other ones..... meaning, I had to expand my skills!! I used to do alot of cross-stich, so it would be easy to just keep making x-stich things, but that is not right!!! So, I have done cross stich (of course!), painting, plastic canvas, my memory is failing me...OH! Bead work spiders (LOVE these!! this is when I realized I had to make some for me too - so we have 3 spiders in our christmas tree!!!), And there tree ornaments was my first try at paper pieceing....If I didn't have a friend who PP'd - I would have thrown the first one away!!! But, I kept at it and they are so cool!!!
This year, in the Keepsake cataloge they have a pattern for using zippers - #7573: My Christmas Zips Pattern. I have that ordered (am not very patiently waiting) for it to come in the mail, and this will be this years Ornament for the tree!!!!
Yes, I have missed some years, but - oh well. I am still a work in progress and all I can do it keep on working at it!!
So, my girls will have memories - and keepsakes!!!

I JUST THOUGHT OF ONE!!!! My Dad, one Christmas, gave me a little crystal sugar bow and creamer - that is a keepsake and it sits right by my computer!!! So, that is my keepsake and it took this whole story for me to see it!!!
Thanks Myra, and hey, since they are playing Christmas music on the radio - I can say it out loud: Merry Christmas!!!
