Downpour and Hail...

Sorry! No quilt/sewing things to post about today. I seem to have lost my mojo in that area again... Not good since I have the hollyhock wall-quilt to finish for August 8th!!!

We, the Wonky Bits ladies, got some very sad news this week. The 42 year old pastor from the Baptist church (that we had been getting to know when we use their basement for our Wonky Bits gatherings) died Sunday morning from the H1N1 virus. He leaves behind his wife, 2 young children, and a church community that thought the world of him... May Pastor Perry rest in peace, and God bless his family...
Our Wonky Bits gathering will be held in my home this week...

My first"spliced" photo here is how our front yard looked after our day of dirt and sod on Saturday. If you click on the photo you should be able to see the 6 plants put in by the living-room window. The other side of the sidewalk we will wait with plants till next year... I am hoping we will not have to dig there to fix the crack in our foundation. I am counting on DH's "inside" fixings to be enough... but with our luck it won't be so...
The last couple of days I had been making sure to keep up on watering our new sod, and late yesterday afternoon I had some help. A downpour and hail around 6:30pm. Was it ever noisey!!!I don't think I will have to water today! 8-)

looks like you really got "had" last night with the rain -- we got wind and the sudden drop in temp but no real rain here at the north end of the city...

Wow, it would be nice to get some of that rain here in AZ! We're in monsoon season right now, so it gets cloudy and humid, but 110 degrees! HUGS

Hope you're not getting much water in the basement.

What a perfectly darling house! I think we're about to get some rain too, only not THAT much rain!

We've had so much lately that my tomato plants are looking very water logged. I hope they survive.

So sorry to hear about the pastor, and so young too.

That is very sad news to hear about that young pastor dying from the H1N1 virus. *sigh* It shows that we never know what tomorrow may bring.

I am very sorry to read about the death of the pastor. Sad. The only good thing is, he's gone home now - but very sad for his family. It is hard to loose a father so young. Husband to.

I am glad you got rain/hail so you don't have to water. said tounge in cheek, but we have finally been getting some much needed rain, and I am lovin it!!

I hope you find the creative drive that makes you make such pretty things!!! I love seeing them!!! I just think you are on holidays right now, so don't stress about it - after the 'break' you will be like a wildfire and those hollyhocks won't stand a chance!

And you will have a great front yard once you have it all planted up!! We have to do that to our backyard...... It will look really good once done.

So sorry to hear about the Pastor.
We have been having LOTS of rain here too.
Hope your "mojo" comes back soon.

Sorry to hear about the pastor Myra. That was a very large rain, but I know it helped with your sod. Sod is hard to keep watered until it gets established...I remember.

Wow, I didn't realize it hailed in the city. We got a rain storm, but no hail.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Pastor Perry. I can't believe the intensity this H1N1 has. When it first surfaced I thought that it was just another flu bug, but that's not the case anymore.

Take care, Myra.

Hadn't heard about the pastor's death and didn't see any rain or hail. What part of the city are you in? I'm in River Heights.

I do hope your MOJO will come back soon.

We didn't get any of that hail or hardly a drop of rain! What you got is really something considering close we live in proximity!

Saw some pics on FB of the DCF - I couldn't believe how much hail they got!

Anyone know when the pastor's funeral is?

Here is the link to the Oakbank Baptist Church web page...

The funeral is tomorrow.

By the way, your yard is looking great!
