Here are photos of some of the wonderful
eye candy that was shown at the last retrea
I was at...

These 2 were made in a class with Corina teaching the method, through our
This cutie complete with little black sheep...
Jar quilts were won from a BOM draw... Half used for a boy quilt, and next half will be for a girl's quilt. Grandchildren of the winner...
Paper-piecing...Didn't get a photo of all her blocks, or the proper layout of them... :(
A similar table topper as this one
These table toppers are all created from another class put on by our
There were many other show & tells, but I didn't catch them all, being that we were really spread out in the lodge. But, you can see some that I missed on Katherine's blog!!

My show & tell for today is Bitty Bear... ;)
Our little TJ is growing so darn fast... More photos of him on my Gramma's Brag page...

Pg's Mystery Top

Pg brought her Mystery quilt top to Wonky Bits today to show us. I love the fabrics she used, and her Dresden Plates that she created for her own choice blocks are wonderful!! Very nice PG!! Thanks for taking part in my first
Mystery Quilt-Along P!! 8-)
Now I'm eagerly waiting to see some more
of my gal's Mystery top finishes, and to see
some pop up in blogland.
Please email me a link to yours if you've
posted of it, or leave a comment here
for me to pop over to see it.

If you don't have a blog, please do email a photo of your Mystery top for me to share/post here for others to see... My email address can be found in my Profile (link by the photo of me on the left hand sidebar).

This is so exciting seeing the finishes!!
I had so much fun creating the Mystery for everyone, and I even have another Mystery quilt pattern planned for another time... 8-)

Happy stitching!

Over the past weekend...

I took my Mystery quilt top off my display wall, as it had been hanging there long enough...
...and replaced it with what I've managed to get done at the quilt retreat. Still sewing the rows...
I call this "Birthday Purples", because I received all the purple FQs for my last 2 birthdays, from my CCC quilt group. Thanks ladies!!! 8-)
You can see it is way too big for my display wall!! I wondered (and still wonder) if I should make 2 lap quilts? Or keep going in this direction, for a queen size quilt for our guest room... I am wondering if it even needs the borders!?! It is huge! LOL!

Before I went to the retreat this past weekend, I stopped at a couple fabric shops. In the first photo here, I went looking for more of the fabrics I used in the table topper top, shown on the left, to make another side-table topper. Sadly, I could not find the big leaf fabric, so found something that could work...
At the other shop I bought some flannel to make myself some new PJs...
And at both shops I bought that stuff known as "PUL", used to make diapers. The first I bought is very thin, and the second one is much more of what I had expected, as you can see here.
I'll make a couple of diapers with them both, and see how they stand up for our little TJ... 8-)

Bloggers Quilt Festival...

Amy, from Amy's Creative Side, is hosting the Blogger's Quilt Festival for Fall 2011. Click on the pic to go to her website to see lots of wonderful/gorgeous quilts, and try to leave comments when you visit these talented quilters! New blogging/quilting friends to be made, and lots of inspirational quilty goodness to see...

My entry for the quilt festival is
my "Summer Logs" quilt.
It was my first lesson in paper-piecing.
The logs are only 1/2" wide. The blocks are only 4" finished, and there is 36 of them! Tedious it was, but I love the outcome.
I also love the country look of
the appliqued flowers.
This quilt hangs in my living-room today...

You can see more of my quilts

I hope you enjoyed your visit! I'm sure enjoying my visits to the other quilter's blogs that have linked in to Amy's festival post!!

Happy stitching!

Some Wonky Bits Show and Tell...

It was quite the frosty and foggy morning yesterday! We were all late with getting to our quilt gathering due to this, but we all got there safe and sound...
The sky was clear and sun was shining when we left, so that was good...

Here are some Wonky Bits Show & Tell finishes for you to enjoy...

This is Lp's Scrappy Hexagons quilt. All pieced by hand, and then machine quilted.
It was a great grab and go project, and Lp spent many hours on it over the summer at her cottage/trailer... Looking good L!
I need to catch up with mine now!!!

This is Pg's beauty! Love the fabrics (mostly batiks), and the look of this pattern. Pg has such a good eye for color arrangement...
Here is Pg's end result from Bonnie Hunter's "Roll Roll, Cotton Boll" mystery project.
P really enjoys a good mystery... Especially Bonnie's. She is looking forward to the next one that is coming up sometime soon...

Here is a close up of the quilting, done by a local longarm quilter. Looks wonderful...
Pg herself does an awesome job of
machine quilting on her home machine,
on smaller projects, such as the quilt below...

This was Pg's "leaders and enders" project with scrappy red 9-Patches. She then set them with light and green backgrounds, and found the perfect border to bring it all together...

Just thought I'd share some of
my friends' wonderful talents...

I best get some more of my PhDs done soon too (though I am enjoying creating more. lol...). I think I will indeed be taking a couple of my quilts to that new longarm quilter that Pg has been bringing her quilts too...

Happy stitching and have a great weekend!

Myra

PS: If you have any trouble opening up the Mystery PDF files, do let me know...

I'm back from a wonderful retreat weekend!

Before we got to the retreat center we stopped for lunch, and HAD TO stop at a friend's quilt shop. This was the damage to my credit card... ;)
I also bought these 2 patterns...
Though the magazines I bought at my local grocery store before heading out...

There was the sign we had to watch for!!! Yippee! We were there!
Nothing fancy, a kids camp kind of lodge.
Very comfortable, and wonderful meals...
Here is the workshop (and dining tables to the right). There was 16 of us participants. A nice size group, and very friendly ladies...
This is friend Dw's and my work table... I was some concerned that we wouldn't be using chairs, but it wasn't too bad...
Friday night I finished a 5 year UFO bag... Finally!!
It has 2 outside pockets...
It is a zippered bag, and still needs
dowels on each end...
 Two inside pockets too...
I then started on these 2 Fall table toppers, and finished the tops up on Saturday...
Love the colors, though they aren't
true on the photos...

I also made this Christmas table topper top...
I got all my Purples cut up Saturday night, and got lots of it sewn this morning...
I shall keep that project bagged up
for the next retreat I go to...

The gals that organized this event had
a "Make & Take" project for us to do.
Luggage Tags...
I also won one of their 6 door prizes...
Some wonderful fabrics! Oooo lucky me!
A wonderful time was had...
Next retreat in 2 weeks!!

Hope you all had a safe
and wonderful weekend too!!

Life around here...

I've been visiting my parents every few days... Dad is doing well now, being on his pain-killers. Sleeping much better, and slowly on the mend... Been helping Mom with her new computer and the internet. Bouncing around online with her. She is just amazed at all that shows up on her screen...

My Bro is pretty much back to normal now. Still has to take it easy at times though, as doing too much reminds him of that... Hopefully these broken ribs between my dad and bro, don't come in threes, as we've had enough of that now! lol...

Hubby came home from his "work visit" to DD1's in Wisconsin. Worked on their upstairs bathroom... Dry-walled, puttied, painted, put all the bathroom pieces in, and made sure that it all works. Now back to routine of going to work...

I've been stitching this and that in my sewing-room, and finishing up the binding on TJ's quilt... Yup! Still not finished, but close now...
 Our little Fall-time pumpkin
came for a visit today...
He is already 12 pounds!!! Little porker! LOL...
We are really enjoying him... 8-)

Happy stitching!

Oh My...

Car fire, Firetruck/men, Medics, Police, Tow-truck... An eventful evening outside my front window tonight...

I have no clue who's car it was, but it is now gone... Thank goodness no one was hurt...
We'll see how much glass there is
on the street in the morning...

Time for bed...
Nighty-night!

Tactile Pleasures...in Fabrics

That is what Dawn at "As Sweet as Cinnimon" has asked us to post about!

Why I named my blog as...
As quilters, we all love the feel of fabrics, especially new fabrics. Thus I chose "Tactile".

Working with, and creating with fabrics, is purely a pleasure... For the most part right!?
So I chose to add "Pleasures".

I thought, "Tactile Pleasures" alone may not be good, as you never know what might pop up on the internet if you google just that, so I added "in Fabrics" to cover my butt so to speak... LOL!!  8-)

And there you have it! The meaning behind my blog name "Tactile Pleasures...in Fabric".

Pop on over to Dawn's blog to read why others have named their blogs what they have...
Then perhaps you will post such a write-up, about about why you named your blog
what you did, and add your post link
to Dawn's list of links...

I'm off to feel my fabrics now!  8-)

Have a wonderful day!

Mom's on the internet, and Dad's ouchie...

Yesterday I spent the day with Mom, her new laptop of 2 weeks, oversaw things with the guy who did her internet hookup, and spent some time getting her a bit familiar with email and such... Seems it was all too much for Mom, cause she had a whopper of a headache last night...

DD1 had set up an email account on http://www.famililink.com/ for my mom while my parents went down to Wisconsin to visit last week. This site is apparently good for seniors just learning about emailing and the internet... Way to go DD1!!!

You read about my Bro and his broken ribs here this past Summer, and now, not to be outdone, my dad broke some of his...
Accidentally of course...  8-(

Dad has this motorized scooter, and goes out for a daily spin, away from the apartment, since he is unable to go for walks... This past Wednesday, while looking around on his spin,  he hit a pothole, and over he went. Two wonderful truckers stopped to get his scooter up-righted, and helped him up and back on it... Thank goodness there are helpful people out there...

Anyway, Dad has three broken ribs, and a possible 4th... Now he's on pain-killers, so hopefully he will be more comfortable.

Never a dull moment in my family's lives these last 2 years... Sheesh!!

Hope you are having a good weekend!
