10 minutes before leaving....

All ready! Vaccuumed and tidied, packed by the door, showered, dishes done, fur-girls pottied, and a few moments to spare before heading out the door! 8-)

Last night I quickly cleaned off my cutting and sewing tables cause DH said that he would put my 2 new work surfaces in while I'm gone to the retreat. The old cutting table is going to his workshop...One of the new surfaces, on the right side of photo is just sitting on stuff there for now... I guess he brought it upstairs last night...I piled everything in this corner, the rest he can move as he is working in there... I hope he doesn't find my goodies... 8-)
I will post a photo of the changes this coming week... and no! I did not switch my bedroom and sewing rooms. I decided to stay put, but will move my book shelves into my bedroom so as to have more space in the sewing room... 8-)

I did a quick switch of quilts hanging in the dining area last night, as they were laying sandwiched on the guest bed for the last while to stay flat, but DH is having an out of town friend over to help with things around here on the weekend...
Plus I am taking the Holly Jolly flimsey that was hanging there along for Sew & Tell time at the retreat!

The Fur-Girls are already pacing... they know what this stuff by the back door means! "Mommy is gone for a few days! Not happy!"
Time to pack the car, pick up the other 3 gals, and hope that everything fits in my van for the trip to the retreat! Wish us luck with that! I may need to sit Jr on Vf's lap... or bury someone... lol! 8-)

Thanks for all the weekend well wishes ladies! You all have a great weekend too!

See ya all when I gets back! (Yes I know it is not proper grammar!!!) lol...

A "Wonky Bits" quilting day!

The amazing P strikes again! Another wonderful quilt top! Gorgeous fabrics! 8-)
One of P's many Mile-a-Minute quilts. She's made many in different color ways... 8-)
Can't even try to keep up with her! 8-)
J was working on making a donation quilt top for the children's hospital... Busy little bee that J is! 8-)
Also in the photo you will see my hexagons...again! It will get done eventually! 8-)
This is also J's. A table topper that she will be doing some stitch work on...
H also was working on a long time hand-quilting project. She it just about finished... 8-)
Well, it is time for me to go start packing for the quilt retreat tomorrow... Now, which UFO, WIP, PHD to pack to work on? I only have about 10-15 to choose from... 8-)

What's wrong with this picture?

Very big sigh...

Guess what I forgot to add to the Bran Muffin batter? Baking Soda!!! Duh!!! And then they wonder why I don't bake anymore!!! I hope the second batch, that I added some baking soda to, doesn't have that baking soda taste!!! That will spoil the effort I put into baking this morning...

I used to bake a lot when I was younger. At least 3 times a week. The children loved to "bake" with Mommy... My baking started dwindling about 6-7 years back.

Cooking used to be done everyday! That has also sadly been dwindling the last 2 years... I hate doing both now. Nothing seems to taste good to me that I have prepare either, though the family certainly enjoys whatever I make... when I "get to it"... 8-/

Do any of you have the same situation?

Time change weekend...

Photo of my mother with the fur-girls (from my parents visit here last week...) Mom never lets the dogs get this close to her face, but once I convinced her that Ruby just wants to lean on her while sitting up there she was better... and then Dora had to get in on that idea! 8-)

I had a nice weekend with my fur-girls. DH went to visit his friend out Brandon way for the weekend again. He is helping with home renos out there...
My wonderful DS and his GF took me to Olive Garden for sup and catch-up talk on Saturday night... Good time T. Thanks again! 8-)
Then Sunday DH and I went to the 5pm Mass in our old town, and to friends W & J for supper afterwards. W is such a good cook! Had a very nice visit, as always! Thanks W & J! 8-)

Not much getting done in the sewing room... The Spring forward (an hour) time change has me some out of wack... ah... yes, more than I usually am! 8-)
Hopefully I will be adjusted by Wednesday...

Thursday is a Wonky Bits day. Hopefully I "WILL remember" to bring my camera!!! 8-)

Friday is a road trip to another quilt retreat! This time west of the city, about a 2 hour drive (if I remember correctly), at a camp in the middle of nowhere! It is my 4th year attending this retreat! Fun stuff!
I know! Sooooo soon after the last retreat I had planned! I best watch for that when booking next Winter's retreat! 8-)

The Dory Award

Looking at blogging friend Lise's blog this morning, I saw this award and just had to have it. It is not to be given away it is to be taken. So... if you think you deserve this award, please feel free to take it.

The Dory Award,
for those who can't remember Squat!

This quote was taken from http://bejeweledquilts.blogspot.com/ who in turn got it from another blog: she has a wonderful blog but....I just loved this award because it is me!!!

"Because I can't remember squat, Tar created the Dory Award. (Do you remember Dory from Finding Nemo?) Unlike most awards passed around in Blogland, this one is not to be passed along TO others (after all, that wouldn't be very nice, would it?)...it is to be TAKEN. If you consider yourself eligible to receive the DORY AWARD, then by all means please take it and display it proudly on your blog! You know best if you deserve it! And if you do, WELCOME to the DORY CLUB! If you're not qualified to join, be thankful!"
Enjoy and let me know if you have joined the Dory club also.

If you have ever gone to the fridge and opened the door and forgot what you went in there for...you deserve this award.

If you ever got up and went to a different room to get something and once you got there forgot what it was that you went there for...you deserve this award.

If you ever went to the grocery store with a list and still forgot things on the list even though you crossed everything off as you went along...you deserve this award.

If you ever introduced a friend to someone and your mind went blank for her name... you deserve this award.

I have done all of these things and some I can't remember. 8-)

A March Finish...

There we go! Another project finished! A March finish for the challenge! Table topper for Mom... Too bad I didn't have it done yesterday so that my mother could take it home with her... Ah well... Now lets see if I can complete another before the end of the month! 8-)

I'd just like to say, being that I am not one for emailing, a quick "Thank-you" to all my blogging friends for their visits and comments. I appreciate each and every one of you, and love to visit your blogs! PS: I am good for emailing answers to questions though... and Please, Please, do not feel the need to email me after I leave comments on your blogs... unless, of course, I've asked a question... 8-)

Yesterday we reached +1C! Woohoo! We had rain, that froze and made for very slippery driving, and we had the biggest snowflakes I had seen in a very long time! If you click on the photo you will see how big the flakes were when the hit the sidewalk. Very pretty to look at...

7 sleeps till the Carberry Retreat!
(I know! Another one! So soon!?!) 8-)

My Quilt Gathering Last night...

*!@#$%^&*.... I forgot to bring my camera to quilting last night, and believe me, there was plenty to take photos of!!! Darn!!! To top it all off, Kh even forgot her's too!!! We were not happy campers about that!!! Ah well... it happens... 8-)

We had a good night anyway... as per usual!

I shocked Jacquie with my shaved head, and we all had a good laugh about it... We had some talk about our past weekend retreat, and the one coming up in May... And did lots of stitchings... I got about half of the binding sewn down on my mother's table topper... She will see it today when she comes for a visit...

Don't know if I've ever posted a photo of our home, but here it be. This photo is from the listing before we bought it... The bush in front of the house is gone now, sidewalk was relaid, dirt got built up a bit, and some sod put down. This Spring we will be putting some shrubbery in... The widow on the right is my sewing room... facing south... 8-)

Nothing else to post...

This and That...

What the heck is that blob on my screen while trying to play Spider Solitaire?
Figures! Ruby get down!

Told the gals at the retreat that my hair was coming off this week... It's been driving me nuts.... and now it is gone!
Sorry Jacquie... 8-)

I shaved most of it all off!
Feels great! 8-)

Now I just have to color it...
I have also had my head shaved for "Cops for Cancer" about 6-7 years ago.
DH (3 times), DD1 (twice), and me (once). We all went for it the one time. I was hoping that DD2 and DS would go for it along with us. I thought it would be awesome to have a family photo of 5 baldies taken to send out as Christmas cards that year... but it was not to be. DD2 and DS were chickens! 8-)

Tis a quilt gathering night today, so hopefully I shall have some Sew & Tell for you...
I'll be hand-sewing the binding down on the table-topper for my mother...

Retreat Weekend Photos...

In no particular order...

"Feb Retreat Group 2009"
Though it was a much smaller group this time, we had just as much fun as at the 2008 Nov Retreat!!! We had one retreat virgin there this time. She had a blast! 8-)

Here is M, our male host, and E, the head cook, J and J, our volunteer kitchen help! Great food, great help, great stuff!!! Thanks CSE team! 8-)

This is J's puzzle quilt that she was machine quilting most of the weekend.

This is Ls' Friday night wonder! Beautiful little panels that she arranged within black sashing...

Next is Ls' baby quilt that she needs to complete for a little one soon. It was made from a Fon's and Porter magazine. Since the photo some modifications were made to adjust errors... Hey! It happens! Right!?! 8-)

Here I am working with my Batik Jelly Roll... Fun stuff! Mistakes made, stitches ripped, just too much of an attitude of "go, go, go"... doesn't pay!!! 8-)

Quilt-as-you-go table topper done to the point of needed the binding hand stitched...

This flowery photo is of Pg's kit that she received as a gift from her daughter. It is called "Joy" by Pippa Moore of Kitambaa Designs, a Canadian designer.

Here we have Pg's wonderful quilt top she just happened to whip together in no time flat at the retreat! It is "Bricks and Stepping Stones" by Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.

This is a 1/2 m. panel I just happened to win for my drawing of a Rail Fence quilt... If you click on the photo and look closely at the drawing, you will wonder why I won... ? ... We all drew them in the dark. Mine was drawn from the best 4 drawings... Now, what to do with the panel? Any suggestions?

OK Myra! No move photos of us in our Pajamas!!!

Dw was into fish all weekend... Somehow I did not end up with a photo of her progress... She had wonderful coordinating fabrics! 8-)

Here we have Yn sitting on a table with her Disappearing 9-Patches she made from some charm packs...

Vf got her paper pieced wedges put together. Love the fabrics she used! 8-)

Here again are out Quilt-as-you-Go table toppers I posted last night. In order from left to right are, Du's, Kh's, Yn's, Vf's, mine, and Sy's. What an array of fabrics/color combos!!!

Last but not least is our 14 year old volunteer cook's 2 creations. We found out at our Nov retreat that she had an interest in sewing and had made a couple of quilts, so we told her she had to bring them to our next retreat if she was working the kitchen again for us... What great pieces from a beginner hey!?! Way to go J!!!

The gals all had such a great time at the retreat, that they are now asking if I could look into booking a possible 3 to 5 day retreat! Addicted or whay!?!?! LOL!!! You can never get enough of a fun thing!!! 8-)

DH bulk this afternoon, just before he left for work, at my comment of another retreat in 2 weeks... LOL! "It's not on the calendar!" says he, to which I say, "It will be the next time you look at it!" 8-)

The fur-girls were majorly excited to see me come through the door late yesterday afternoon!

Weeeee're baaaack..............

Just a quick post tonight... 8-)

Saturday morning Kh from QGBs found her banana's in pajamas nicely tucked under a quilt. Kh forgot to put them to bed Friday night, but a late night straggler saw to that task.... 8-)
There is Kh, in her pajamas, with her bananas in pajamas!!! She woke them up, and we all got to work! They had to keep watch over us for the weekend! 8-)
A quick photo of our quilt-as-you-go table toppers, in various stages of completion...
More to come tomorrow! 8-)

Hope everyone had as good of a weekend as we all did at the retreat! 8-)
