Lost and FOUND, and a 200th post giveaway! 8-)

Today I sat down at my sewing table and while setting up my Pfaffy after yesterday's outing to Wonky Bits, I thought to myself... again... "where, since our move, could those ceramic tiles be?" So, sitting there I looked around my sewing room, wondering, and then spotted a box I had not checked in. Guess what I found right on the top of all that was in there? My Ceramic Tiles!!! Oh happy day! 8-)So, now that I have found them, today I will make a pincushion/thread catcher, and for those that were interested, tomorrow I will post a tutorial of the making... 8-)

I have also noticed that this is my 191st post, so, since I missed my 100th post, I will be hosting a 200th post giveaway, in which this pincushion/thread catcher will be a part of! What else will be a part of this giveaway, is anyone's guess... 8-)

A good day gone bad...sort of...

No, after meandering up the stairs, not sort of, definitely a day turned bad!

We went to our Wonky Bits Quilt gathering, and special pot-luck today. We had a great time! Good project works and show and tell.

This Oriental quilt is Du's. Beautiful fabrics, great quilting, nicely done! And this is her Stack and Whack WIP...mesmerizing...

Then we have Cd's donation quilts. She used up all of her flannel scraps, and then some other fabrics, to make comfort quilts for those at Cancer Care. Six photos here, but some of the quilts were piled one on top of the other. I think she had about 11 to 12 quilts in total there today!!! You go Cd!!! 8-)


























New member Lo came for her first day with us. A good first day when it happens to be Pot-Luck wouldn't you say? 8-)
Lo is working on a quilt for her step-daughter. All her 1st year old's clothes are being made into a keepsake quilt. We will be watching this one! A new experience to us... 8-)







Good talk and good food with lots of deserts (not photographed) and lots of laughs... as per usual!










I made a good dent in my Holly Jolly project today. I have about a 1/4 of it sewn together...all was good. 8-)
(was going to dive into it more once at home but...)
Had to detour on the way home because of a bad accident on the highway (I pray it was no one I know personally, and for the people in the accident itself), and made good time. My "bad" started as soon as I opened the front door of the house.

I walked in, weighed down like a donkey (cause us quilters don't pack lightly, do we?), and a very unwelcome odor hit my senses. A smell I was very familiar with, but not in this situation. One of the fur girls messed in her kennel, and it ended not being the youngen!!! BIG sigh...

So, I bring all my stuff in, open all the windows, and determine which kennel to open first. Quickly headed out the back door with fur girls and messy kennel. Dora did have some evident tummy issues yesterday, thus it continues today... AND, she brought up in her kennel also... Lovely!

Long story "shorter", hosed down kennel and blankets, threw blankets in the wash (for 2 washes), and put 2 fur girls in the bathtub. I found out I don't like washing my dogs all by myself! I think I ended up the wettest.... A clean soaking wet fur girl under each arm and out to the backyard we went for a good drying!

Up and down the stairs a few times here and I realize my predicament. After all the sewing machines/supplies/kennel/dog haulings of the day, and umpteen stairs walked, my bad knees and my touchy back didn't appreciate all they went through today...bad Myra, bad!

...?...Oh ya! LOL! And to top it all off, I also dropped my casserole with leftover ham from the pot-luck (was to be for supper) while unloading my stuff and it smashed to smithereens...so much for that!?!

Turned out to be "just one of those days". My turn! Good they don't come too often, so tomorrow I shall be taking it easy... and it WILL be a better day! 8-)

The pattern for this quilt was made by some fellow Manitobans, Myra Harder and Cory Derksen. Together they have created several quilt books, patterns, and a fabric line... They are very talented ladies and very well known here in our part of the world.This is a lovely colorful quilt... Some form of the Friendship Star.
And a table topper/runner that I took a liking to...

This is the same as the one my friend Dp made...only different colors or course.This was a very busy looking quilt, but if you click on it for a close up, you will see the wonderful fabrics that were used in it... Too busy for my liking...
I think this one is called the Mexican Star...? Great fabrics! My friend V made one a while back also...
I believe that this was raw edge applique... Lovely wall-quilts hey?!

Tidbits from my weekend...

Friday was DD2's 22nd Birthday. She worked, came home, packed, and was out the door to go to her friend's cottage for the weekend..."Nice seeing you too! Happy Birthday!" Actually, I didn't even see her as I was at the Quilt Show... 8-/

Also on Friday, for a very brief time, DS came home with his girlfriend that we have met maybe 3-4 times now. ...?... What can I say...? She had my DH and I doing more than a double take... and then they were out the door again (out for supper, and then her to work) leaving us with our mouths open... I think she likes going for the shock factor, don't you? 8-)

Saturday we went to Steinbach with my brother and S-I-L for my Cousin-In-Law's surprize 50th birthday party. It was a very big surprize, and we had a silly good time! One of their guests had the cutest 8 week old Rotti there. A little sweetie. Got home around 1:30am, on the comp a bit, and that is when I lost my server for 45 hours... 8-)

Sunday we went to my parent's for a fishy dinner... My dad and I had chicken. I don't do fish in our house, so when my mother got fresh fish from my bother and son's fishing trip earlier in the week, she thought my DH would appreciate a fish dinner...

At some point on the weekend I did some mindless stitching. I worked with my Moda Holly Jolly charm packs. Planning to do a Disappearing 9-patch with them..

Monday night we had the whole family in for coffee and cake for DD2's and DH's Birthdays...as well as our 24th anniversary. Can you believe I consented to us getting married 24 years ago on his birthday!?! Anyway, DS had his girlfriend over again, with a new hairstyle of yarns, and my crazy brother, went out to his truck and came in with this look, after they had left of course (cause we don't know if she can take a joke)... His "hair" is made of shoelaces of all things... 8-)

Today I have been catching up on my emails, blog hopping, and such, and found some neat things.

FORTY-FIVE HOURS!!! 8-(

FORTY-FIVE HOURS!!! I can't believe it!?! My server was down and out for 45 hours!!! Not impressed living without my main way of communicating!!! I just got it back now! 11pm... Happy, happy, happy... Except, now I have 27 emails to look through...?... Now, or tomorrow morning?....hmmmmm.....? Tomorrow....8-)

This one with the leaves was just gorgeous! The quilting on it superb!

There were 4 quilt just like this one, all different colors... I think it was a project this group took part in.

Third quilt done for Finn's Challenge...

I just put the last few stitches on my 3rd finish for Finn's Challenge!!!
This is my Convergence Quilt! Pretty bright hey? I saw the fat quarters and liked them, thus that is what I used... Quite a few gals in my city group did this quilt a while back...probably 2 years now... If it weren't for Finn's Challenge, it would be sitting there for another year probably... 8-)

I had fun quilting it. On the suggestion of the gals, I did echo quilting on it... Not near perfect at all (still learning), but it is done and I like the effect you get when you look at it from a distance... As friend Kn says, "a man on a running horse wouldn't notice the boo-boos!" 8-)

On the back I used a hand-me-down left over fabric of Tinkerbells, hearts and butterflies...

Today I went to a local Quilt Show and had a lovely day with friends, quilts, vendors and their tables of goodies, and of course lunch. I also did not leave a paper trail for purchases, so I am safe from hubby scrutiny... Cash always works best! 8-) (Norman, mums the word!!!) 8-)

I "ooed and awed" about my purchase, and then I just went for it!!! I got a jelly roll of sorts of Batiks, a meter of a matching Batik (need to find another yet), and 3 charm packs that kept calling for me... 8-) The kit to make a small turtle wall-quilt was calling, but I ignored it... I have enough to keep me busy. 8-)

I did some thinking today, and realized how much I have done this year, even since I started blogging, and I am very proud of myself. 8-) (my quilting pals can't even believe the roll I am on...) So now, with 4 projects done and given away, and 3 UFOs completed for Finn's Challenge, it is time to play! 8-)

Time to play...?... Do I work with my half square triangles that I started a while back? Maybe play with my Christmas Charm Pack? Make the bag I plan for my Sunflower Charms? Hmmmmmm.....? Me thinks we shall think on this a while yet...
