I would like your opinions.
I had 4 charms left over from the charm packs used in this quilt top. The yellow stripe. This is "Option A". I thought it would look good to use the stripe in the corners on the boarder like this setting... but it looks washed out to me...

I then thought to twist the corner block around in "Option B"... I think the stripe still doesn't work...

"Option C" would be to ditch the stripe, and replace it with the yellow used in the boarders...
I was also thinking to use the candy-cane stripe as the binding... but now I don't know?
Suggestions welcomed! 8-)

I think your instincts are right Myra and if I were you I'd go with option 3.That stripped binding may work, don't rule it out yet, however it is hard to tell from a picture.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're in your sewing room and not out on your new boat on this cold and windy day.

love the quilt, someone has been busy I see LOL... great colors too... happy stitching and the candy stripes fabric is just right... Lise
ReplyDeleteI agree, the yellow stripe does look washed out in both. The solid yellow that you used in the border might be better. The red and white will make a great binding.
ReplyDeleteCan't help you with the border dilemna I thinks perhaps I would leave keep it simple and definitely use the candy stripe for the binding - love it!
ReplyDeleteHugs - Lurline.
I like option B with the solid yellow block. What a beautiful quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteI think any of the 3 options will work - I actually like the yellow stripe block.....just to confuse things!
ReplyDeleteOkay Myra, here's what I think.....option 3 for the borders, the yellow stripe just doesn't work and PLEASE use the red & and white stripe for the binding, it'll look fantastic, I promise!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the solid yellow and the stripe for the borders. I also think the yellow stripe just looks too washed out.
ReplyDeleteI think option B and loose the stripe. It really looks washed out in that corner. Can't you replace that with a RED you used in the quilt? The candy cane fabric look great for the binding!
ReplyDeleteBtw: great quilt and I think I recognized some of the fabric :)
We saw some amazing quilts in Fargo - many with stripped borders - yes do go with the candy cane binding - Y knitpegger
ReplyDeleteI'm going with the pack - option three with the red&white binding - ALTHOUGH!. . . me, myself and I would be more conservative and go with the solid yellow for the binding as well. Looks like you're having fun with it . . . can't wait to see it complete. - Marlene
ReplyDeleteI vote for option b is nicer. But what do I know? LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the soaking up the sun picture! That is me on some spring days especially after a long winter.

I would use the red and white stripes for binding.
ReplyDeleteI love candy stripe for the binding..
ReplyDeletekeep it simple, sometimes less is more..
Hugs
I love the colours you chose, Myra - and I'm voting for the stripe binding...mostly because I've done a few like that this year and having never been a stripey person previously I was blown away with how much of an impact they make on a quilt binding. I have used this same block you have used just recently. You can see the quilt top on my blog - I used a lot of Anna Maria Horner fabrics and called it My Bohemian Quilt. Of course, it's hot now and I need cool days to quilt it.
ReplyDeleteI would go for option C :) and definitly use the candy cane fabric for the binding, loooove this quilt!!
