I would like your opinions.
I had 4 charms left over from the charm packs used in this quilt top. The yellow stripe. This is "Option A". I thought it would look good to use the stripe in the corners on the boarder like this setting... but it looks washed out to me...
I then thought to twist the corner block around in "Option B"... I think the stripe still doesn't work...
"Option C" would be to ditch the stripe, and replace it with the yellow used in the boarders...
I was also thinking to use the candy-cane stripe as the binding... but now I don't know?
Suggestions welcomed! 8-)

I think your instincts are right Myra and if I were you I'd go with option 3.That stripped binding may work, don't rule it out yet,however it is hard to tell from a picture.

ReplyDeleteI agree, the yellow stripe does look washed out in both. The solid yellow that you used in the border might be better. The red and white will make a great binding.
ReplyDeleteCan't help you with the border dilemna I thinks perhaps I would leave keep it simple and definitely use the candy stripe for the binding - love it!

ReplyDeleteOkay Myra, here's what I think.....option 3 for the borders, the yellow stripe just doesn't work and PLEASE use the red & and white stripe for the binding, it'll look fantastic, I promise!!!

ReplyDeleteI think option B and loose the stripe. It really looks washed out in that corner. Can't you replace that with a RED you used in the quilt? The candy cane fabric look great for the binding!

ReplyDeleteI'm going with the pack - option three with the red&white binding - ALTHOUGH!. . . me, myself and I would be more conservative and go with the solid yellow for the binding as well. Looks like you're having fun with it . . . can't wait to see it complete. - Marlene

I love the colours you chose, Myra - and I'm voting for the stripe binding...mostly because I've done a few like that this year and having never been a stripey person previously I was blown away with how much of an impact they make on a quilt binding. I have used this same block you have used just recently. You can see the quilt top on my blog - I used a lot of Anna Maria Horner fabrics and called it My Bohemian Quilt. Of course, it's hot now and I need cool days to quilt it.
